Hehe, it all depends on what your expectations of "classic" are. In my opinion they kept enough features from the 90s games to classify this as a real sequel, true to its name. Could it be any better? Sure. But they already improved it loads based on user feedback, and they can improve it even more in future episodes.

Just an update on my situation - installing cios x made my created channels incapable of detecting the usb hdd, but it was easily fixed with an updated version of the channel creator.
Cheers!

What is your Wii setup? are you running your system menu under 249? what cIOS?
Hmm, I honestly never really changed things much. I think the Wii-Setup should be on default and I have Waninkokos cIOS 20b and I also have the one from Hermes installed.

MAYBE it is your cIOS? I have 19 installed try to use that and see if it works. Sometimes random things get keilled with Waninkokos cIOS updates...

i am on cios v19 and it still reboots so his efforts would be a waste of time, a real shame i can't play this i am just going to grab this game on my ps3 when it comes out and play that.
I am getting this same error, it keeps rebooting...

Every time I try loading, it gives me a message saying "This channel can't be used." I can turn off the Wii normally, but I haven't figured out how to get it running. I have system menu 4.0 and I installed the game with Yet Another Wad Manager v19, using IOS249. Something I'm doing wrong, I assume?

It means it's region locked outside of your region. Use FreeTheWads to make it region free.

Region locked? The hell? I'm pretty sure I downloaded the US version, but apparently not. Thanks for the info.

Edit: The file name of the one I downloaded is NTSC, and so's my Wii. Oh well, I got the region-free version now anyway.

Edit 2: And now I have the rebooting problem.

gotta admit; despite keeping the nostalgia some new zones would be nice

still will pick this up on PSN ... 15$ and still in episode one ... hmm ill wait for a bit.

i really wish they would eventually bring all episodes into 1 disc collection or something - meh its all good i suppose.;

Game is FAR FAR to easy. Got it on PSN 3 hours ago and beat it (with 5 Chaos emeralds so far) in two 1 hour bursts of play. Dissapointed? Slightly. Worth it?...Hard to say, the first 2 zone's are amazingly fun to play, especially the card level and the 'athlete' level. But the labrinth zone is a bitch lol.

I love the game, but why did they just re-hash all the levels?

I imagine they thought that it would be the best way to reclaim the original franchise. To be fair, very little of the levels is actually a copy - for me at least, it's the right amount. Everyone has different standards and expectations. Now that they reintroduced Sonic as the 2D speedster we all used to love, I imagine that there would be no need for further rehashing in future episodes. I could be wrong though. But anyway, I happen to think that upgraded graphics of classic scenes are always fun.

An alternative idea that might have worked better? Bring in a couple levels or bosses as a rehash (perhaps as unlockables) and then just pile on new zones.

Oh no I agree, but if you compare Sonic 1 to Sonic 2 and 3, there's some pretty big differences.

Sonic 1 has GHZ, Marble Zone, Labrynth Zone
Sonic 2 has Chemical Plant, Hill Top, Metropolis
Sonic 3 has Ice Cap, Launch Base, Carnival Night.
Sonic 4 has a level that looks just like Emerald Hill, one that looks like Casino Night (not Like carnival night or Spring Yard at all), one that looks just like Labrynth Zone specifically, and one that looks like a spitting image of Metropolis. Sure, the levels are fuckin' sick and I love them, especially the card one and the one with the torch, dope as shit.

But to be honest, they do just look like copies of Sonic 2's levels, which kind of sucks. Sth 1 2 and 3 all had super awesome differences and Sth4 only has replica's of the other games stages. Nothing new.

Ah well, still a wicked game, just wondering why they just re-hashed shit.

The latest IOS 53 version is v5662.

The latest IOS 55 version is v5662.

The latest IOS 56 version is v5661.

Makes sure all those are installed and it should work.

Also, now that I see it, you guys said you did not update to 4.2. that has some of these WADs that is why it is not working for you guys.

Sorry for this very basic question (I'm a noob), but how does one update an IOS?

I'm sure I have those IOS installed; I'm running 4.1E, bootmii with boot2, cIOS rev13a, some hacks installed with Startpatch. How can I get the latest versions of the three IOSs?

    Yeah but not like this.

It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.

the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze

    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
