This might sound greedy, but in the future, might there be a way to make n64 games as cias?
Personally I don't see this very convenient since there is a limit to have titles shown in the home menu, but yeah it could be possible to make forwarders, it depends on how this emu ends working in future releases since save files are not implemented yet.

This will be possible, no problem. I would say it's useless to do this right now. I would wait until the emulator is more developed. You don't want to create CIA's just for testing a game that is not going to stay in that stage of development.

I'm using the cia version of the emulator and the no-intro dump of the original USA version (non rev a).

I've been trying to get it to load again but with no success so I'm not sure why it worked that one time.
I managed to get past the title screen by waiting until the first demo of Mumbo's Mountain when it shows Clankers Cavern.
Also after saving, exiting the game and loading up your save game it crashes. You can still create a new game though.

Edit: Actually Game file 2 crashes during the intro cutscene so I guess the best way right now is to just delete your save file from the daedalusx64 folder to get ingame again and use save states. Haven't checked if Game File 3 works but it probably doesn't.

I'm honestly baffled that this is even possible in the first place.
I wonder: are there n64 games that simply don't work because they only run at the n64's higher supported resolutions and the only one that can fit on the 3ds top screen is 240p?
I thought the N64's base resolution was 240p?

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

Nor clothes 🤮 . Saves on time, soap, water and money having to wash them. :D
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
