Ive heard about dreamshell and using an sd card adapter which im think about buying to reduce wear on the laser.

Is it worth picking one up and if so, is there any where reliable which ships to the uk?

If it's to play games, no, it's NOT GOOD !! Loading takes 10/15 min !!! This SD reader use serial port witch is very very very SLOW !
The only GOOD way to read game from SD card, it this king of DiskEmu
