Hacking Problems regarding burn speed.

I've heard that it's better to burn games at 1x or 2.4x. However, the lowest I seem to be able to burn at is 4x. I want to burn the DVD5 version SSBB. However, not only are my DVDs low quality, but they're also non rewritable. And I've heard that non rewritable DVDs aren't optimal. So it's chances of working properly are already likely to be low. Being forced to burn at 4x rather than a slower speed is only going to make it less likely to work. Is there any way I can make IMGburn or Nero burn slower? Or is it a hardware issue?

Edit: Forget it, I just burnt it and it seems to be working fine
