biggest savefile right now i believe is 8MB for daigasso band brothers DX(needed for 200 or so songs)
known games with 1MB saves are pokemon platinum(512k reserved for battle recordings), 100 classic books(to download additional books), and gta chinatown wars (no reason found yet)

I don't think it will cause too many problems. maybe make the site go a little slow, but nothing terrible.

and look on the bright side, it may get us some useful new members out of the thousands of noobs that descend.

Pokemon Platinum won't cause nearly as many problems that GTA has. Pokemon Platinum will still generate a decent amount of activity on this forum. The hype for GTA was a lot greater than what Platinum has had so far...(I'm still hyped about Platinum though)

uh lol. You're overestimating GTA and underestimating Pokemon.

Pokemon Platinum won't create chaos like GTA, it will create a lot more.

Some people (like me) couldn't care less about GTA:CW. I haven't bothered trying to get it, or finding out anything about it. Although with Pokemon Platinum, i may ask the release date. Thats it. No need for all these young kids to get hyped up about a game...

I think that most of the chaos caused by GTA was due to it not working on any flashcart. Pokémon Platinum will surely increase noticeably the amount of users connected at the same time, the number of registrated users that day and, probably, the number of users asking for ROMs... But as long as it works fine, it won't really collapse the site as GTA did.

I bet there really won't be ANY problem with Pokémon.

AFAIK, Pokémon Platinum (J) didn't give any problems. Why would the (U) version give them?

oh i still remember some problems, it was the first game with 1MB save support so a lot of people had to use hacked firmware, and manually edited saves.

although now most flashcarts have pokemon platinum(J) on a special list saying it should use a 1MB save.

It's unlikely that the U version will have any problems since any problems have already been fixed in the J release, and they're probably not going to suddenly start adding anti-piracy measures.

Still... Pokemon is more popular than Zelda. That's reason enough to believe it will cause a considerable amount of, not exactly chaos, but at least floods of Pokemon related topics.

I think you are talking about Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. AFAIK, Platinum did not give any problems. Nevertheless, it was definitely NOT the first game with 1MB saves. Take Daigasso! Band Brothers, for example.

Even though I finished it in Japanese, I am so freaking hyped for this game. And I have four essays due in college next week that I haven't even started yet, meaning I won't have time to play it... Sucky. T.T

@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
