Hey Wolf, is it possible to add more area's and trainers to the game or can you only work with what you're given? I can understand if you could add more the games size would get larger, but I don't think most people would mind about that. Have you tried added events for the legendaries?

Good luck! Keep it simple.
Any suggestions on how to do this?

An idea is to have it by areas instead of pokemon.

How did you get the information for the document?
I was thinking of going that route as well. It would make it much easier to sort the encounter percentages.
And as for how I got the info, which info?

Encounter info I got through WPEDS.
Info about the Catch Table and Substitutions? Here.

Edit: Is it just me, or does the untrimmed 1.3 patch... well, not work? It stays at 0KB for minutes. It never took this long.
Try the patch again. It works perfectly for me.

It's almost the same. Yours was very good and detailed.
I have a quicker way in that method you gave.

(EDITED)
In this method, you must have dsbuff. Google it. This is also for DSTT users.

1.) Have the 1.3 patched ROM and the clean ROM
(Use the untrimmed ones)

2.) Open dsbuff

3.) Unpack the 1.3 patched rom

4.) Wait for a window that will appear, and copy the "data" and "overlay" folders.
Then, paste them in your desktop. (for easier access)

5.) Now back to dsbuff, unpack the clean ROM
(You may want to close dsbuff first, then re-open)

6.) then wait again for the window that will appear. Now cut the "data" and "overlay" folders
from your desktop and paste it in the pop-up window (the window that appeared).

7.) then pack the rom using dsbuff.

The fully patched rom's size should be atleast 99 mb.

And oh Sir Wolfsclaw,
is there a program where I can change a pokemon's sprite? Thanks.

I am completely confused on how to do this i tried like 5 times and got messed up first of all how do you unpack the 1.3.patch on dsbuff because when i tried to unpack it would only show the clean rom ad second when patching the clean rom where do i save the file

sorry it is just because i'm not like a huge genius when it comes to these stuff

Okay, sorry, I rushed through things.

First, have the clean rom, patched rom, in one folder.
Then, open dsbuff. Click on the folder icon, and browse the PATCHED rom (PlatinumEnhanced-1.3.nds), not "1.3.patch".

Now, click on "UnPack" on dsbuff. Wait for a window to appear, and copy the TWO FOLDERS from it.
Paste it anywhere you like but I recommend pasting it in your desktop.

After you've finished copying the folders, CLOSE dsbuff.

Then, open dsbuff again. Now, browse the clean pokemon platinum (U) rom by clicking the folder icon.
Click on "UnPack". Wait for a window to appear. DON'T CLOSE THE WINDOW.

Now, back to the desktop. Copy the TWO folders ("data" and "overlay" folders)
from your desktop to the window that appeared.

Wait for the copying to finish.

Finally, go back to dsbuff.
Click on "Pack".
This will now save the fully patched rom.
You can choose any destination and filename you want your fully-patched rom to be.

so do i have to rename the trimmed file because i couldn't find any PlatinumEnhanced-1.3.nds

You have to patch the rom normally first.
Follow the instructions given by Wolfsclaw (the readme.txt).

After patching, you'd get PlatinumEnhanced-1.3.nds

@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
