I find a lot of squirtles in the morning and day at route 202. Don't give up. I spent 7 hours looking for a zigzagoon and found one.

hows the location guide coming along??

It's pretty much complete (just have to check Route 230, which shouldn't take long). And probably check to see which pokemon appear at honey trees, the safari game and the Trophy Garden (cause there seems to be quite a few pokemon missing from the enc_data.narc file, including the legendaries you can catch in the original Platinum, but I believe they're located somewhere else).

I'll put up a list of missing pokemon once the guide's finished.
Can you post a list of what you have done? Have an external link to it because it's so hard to find important posts because this thread gets so many new ones

Okay, thanks.

Needed to know before i advanced in the game if it was still possible to get it without cheating.

So does anybody have any tips on my squirtle situation? Ive evolved apiplupa chimchar andmy dragonair is level 30 from training in route 202 looking for a squirtle and i have yet to see one, any tips or reasons as to why i cant find one? should i restart the game?

@xvolution, you need the Honey Tree Editor, Trophy Garden Editor and Safari Game Editor for the missing locations.

wow 7 hours on a zigzagoon! rough isnt it? k ill try tomorrow morning, as i actually only have been looking for him at night. Thanks.

@Wolf: Yes i realise he SHOULD be there but is it possible my games bugged? and that makes minarins advice unapplicable does it? because squirtle is not bound by the time of day....? the 4 means squirtle is rare but surely not THIS rare =/

There are no "bugs" like that, common sense. Either it works for you and is the same as for anyone else, or it doesn't at all because you screwed up the patching process etc.

edit: also, 7 hours for a pokemon is pretty unlikely. Even for the rarest wild pokemon, if you stay in the grass, run from other wild encounters, and run it shouldn't take more than 30min searching for one encounter of the rarest. In fact, encountering Lugia just took me 10min. So 7 hours sound extremely exaggerated, and i doubt you'd have the patience for that.

its not 7, its 8. And I have no choice. Im in bed for a week after getting surgery on my jaw...... ive been watching dvds and programmes whilst still playing the game as it doesnt takemuch attention so patienceis not an issue. Im not lying about how long its taking me trust me and it doesnt matter if you believe me or not because i dont even know you. I do really appreciate this edition you've made however and appreciate the advice youve given. ill try running from all encounters though running from pokemon actually doesnt shave any time off killing them. ill still do it however....and i will update this post with any progress.

I've spent a lot of time in hospital so have had to develop patience. If it hadn't happened to me I'd agree. If I had run would probably have taken less time but not much as I did find loads of Abras while looking.

@IrishKoEa. Bad luck on being bedridden for a week. Been there myself and unfortunately for me there was no pokemon games out then. Good luck on finding Squirtle. I found it very difficult at night but easy in morning to find them.

I'm pretty sure you can't find a legendary Pokemon you've killed again in this version... I have gone through 30+ repels under cycling road looking for Jirachi, and no luck. I killed it by accident once.
Can anyone CONFIRM that you can?
Edit: Go figure I find it after a minute of writing this message lol confirmed, you can find a legendary pokemon again and again in this version

Mathematically speaking, it is possible to 'never' find a Squirtle. The probability is extremely low but it can happen. For example I just wasted over 40 repels, 4000 steps looking for a Jirachi. I've used over 50 pokeballs the times I have encountered it.
For the record, I had some trouble looking for squirtle too, I just gave up. I'm not playing this game to collect all of the Pokemon, I'm playing it mainly for improved difficulty and to see the changes made in Pokemon Platinum because I haven't played the normal game. I have over 400 Pokemon on my Pokemon Pearl (all non-hacked, all traded/pal park, etc etc) and even if I did collect all of the Pokemon in this game, I wouldn't be able to do anything with them cause they are all considered "hacked" because the locations of practically all of the Pokemon are incorrect.

I'm like that. Don't know why but I have to get each pokemon from each area before proceeding. I'm like that with most games.

Well done on getting Squirtle.

Finally found copies of the Honey Tree Editor, Safari Game Editor and Trophy Garden Editor (those things are a bit hard to find). All the guide needs is a little sprucing up (done through the second generation).

And where's a good place to host it besides here?

4 means Squirtle can be found at level 4.
Number = Level

We helped you too much.

I believe you didn't read my post, also.
If you cared to read my post about getting a squirtle easier then you probably
wont have more problems finding one.

But, see, it's all just LUCK. You got your squirtle now.
But I suggest, you find the next pokemons ON YOUR OWN.

Find a way. I really suggest you download the Wild Pokemon Editor.

I HOPE.. BY NOW, members who may want to ask questions should search through this thread(the pages) first.
Why? Most questions had already been answered.

// Sorry, I'm just emotional at the moment. Haha!

PPEE Encounter Guide v1.3

Not too fancy-looking, but it works where it counts. And, as promised, a list of pokemon not listed in either the pl_enc_data.narc (primary encounters for pokemon) or the encounter_ex.narc (Honey Tree/Great Marsh Game/Trophy Garden)

Generation 2:
bayleef, meganium, quilava, typhlosion, feraligatr, togetic, ampharos, bellossom, slowking, forretress, granbull, scizor, kingdra, porygon2, hitmontop, blissey, pupitar, tyranitar

Generation 3:
grovyle, sceptile, combusken, blaziken, marshtomp, swampert, mightyena, ludicolo, shiftry, gardevoir, slaking, delcatty, manectric, flygon, armaldo, milotic, gorebyss, salamence, metagross

Generation 4:
grotle, torterra, monferno, infernape, prinplup, roserade, bastiodon, mothim, mismagius, purugly, garchomp, riolu, magnezone, lickilicky, rhyperior, tangrowth, electivire, togekiss yanmega, gliscor, porygon-z, gallade, probopass, dusknoir
They're all pretty much obtainable through breeding/evolution though. Just putting the list here in case Wolfsclaw wants to add them.

Happy playing!
