I posted this a few months ago. Going to try one more time, and if nothing works then I guess I'm screwed haha

I was looking through some old threads and saw the possibility of certain individuals reviving fully bricked wiis without a factory reset?

I am willing to send in my wii/pay someone to unbrick my wii as it has a lot of important childhood files on it.

Is there anybody left still willing and safely capable of doing this?

(Bootmii is the only thing that loads, I backed up my nand/keys, but restoring it didn't seem to work and I am unsure if I even still have them.)

Hello, I modified my Wii a little less than a year ago and it gave me a bit of trouble for the first time about three days ago.

I'm putting my latest SysCheck here before I get into the issue:
    Warning: Spoilers inside!
So the issue I experienced was that I could not get past the health safety warning screen when I started up my Wii; it would very quickly freeze on that screen and wouldn't recover.

This issue started after I opened up USB Loader GX and tried playing one of my games where it froze up for the first time. After shutting it down, I tried starting it up multiple times of which the freezing got worse each time and came to the point where I couldn't even pass the health safety warning screen.

After a little research, I came to the conclusion that my Wii's NAND was corrupted so I was going to use BootMii to restore the NAND I backed up.

I had PriiLoader installed on boot2 so I could still access Homebrew (I was just following random tutorials on YT on how to mod and did that in the process), but I wanted to replace PriiLoader with BootMii.

I downloaded HackMii v1.2, installed BootMii as boot2, then started up the Wii...There was no freezing.

I left my Wii on for a couple of hours to see if it would ever freeze, then I started playing games through my SD card and USB devices and everything seems fine now.

I'm feeling unsure of whether the issue is completely gone now so I'm looking for some clarification: was PriiLoader the issue?
I mean, it SEEMS to be working fine now, but is there something I'm overlooking? I know I can always restore my Wii with BootMii/boot2 now, but I'd just rather take care of it now.

Also, the SysCheck reports that PriiLoader is installed, but I already installed BootMii as boot2 by the time I did that SysCheck.

If you need anymore information, please let me know.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Alright, I've got a new question for everyone. I don't think it warrants a new thread so I'll start by asking here.

I've been tweaking my Wii to get everything buttoned up, and I'm currently looking at emuNAND to play some N64 games. I got emuNAND working by following this guide. I've seen some guides that just say install the .wad, but since emuNAND has been so recommended it seems like a better route due to possible brick support.

I've got all the NTSC N64 games that Nintendo released on the Virtual Console, and not all of them work (maybe 60% or so). Looking into this, it seems like I might want to move to using NEEK of some sort (NEEK, SNEEK, UNEEK, NEEK2O ?) for better compatibility? I did some Googling on this site and found some info, but I wanted to check here first for a recommended guide. I'd like to continue playing my VC games off my USB HDD, if possible (assuming I'm not sacrificing a lot of compatibility).

    Some additional questions:

    1) The NAND dump I've been using for emuNAND was before I updated to d2x IOSes; is there any reason I need to redump now that I'm using d2x?
    2) Said NAND dump also has some additional stuff on it when I pull it up in ShowMiiWads, like copies of the Mii and Weather channels; what can I remove from this? I just want a safe way to play VC games. I'm seeing a number of types of items: "System: Menu", "System: IOS", "System: BC", "System: MIOS", "System Channel", "Hidden Channel", and "Channel Title". Most things don't take up much space, but I would like to remove the titles like USB Loader GX since they show up in my emuNAND games list. Other than that removing stuff is more of a curiosity thing.
    3) The guide I followed for emuNAND didn't say anything about the "Nand Saves Emulation" setting in USB Loader GX. I believe it is currently off. For games that have saves (like OOT), how do I make sure my saves are being saved?

I think that's all my questions for now; thanks to whoever takes the time to read this! :)

You can remove the Nintendo channels from your emuNAND. They're shut down anyway. d2x's emulated NAND doesn't use the IOSes in the dumpe, either, but they're pretty small so there's not much reason to remove them.

NAND save emulation is for disc-based games. NAND channel emulation is for WW/VC.

    Thanks for the reply GreyWolf!

Sounds like I don't need to redump my NAND, my VC game saves should be setup correctly, and I can remove the unwanted channels from my emuNAND (I'll just remove the unwanted ones that show up in USB Loader GX).

So where should I start with NEEK / SNEEK / UNEEK / NEEK2O ? Looks like the most recommended "easy" way to get started is via ModMii? I'm not exactly sure where to start here, and how it will affect my current setup.

    Update:

Did some more Googling and found this link; sounds like what I want, correct?

Also, I didn't delete anything from my emuNAND; instead I just hid the unwanted channels from my USB Loader GX list.

Will I need to redump a NAND for NEEK? I was reading that NEEK uses everything from the NAND, but instead of a cIOS it uses unmodified IOSes. My NAND backups are all using d2x IOSes...

    Thanks!

You can use the same dump for both. You should only need NEEK for a few games. The Konami Rebirth games, a couple of the N64 VC, Bonsai Barber, Bejeweled 2, Liight, and Flowerworks are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Thanks GreyWolf! I might redump my NAND just to be safe.

How about this guide I found to setup NEEK? Seems like the OP is trying to accomplish exactly what I am, and it isn't too old, August of 2016. If possible I really don't want to have to redo anything down the line, so whatever is currently "the best" method to accomplish what I'm after.

Yes, that should still be good. Cyan is the USB Loader GX developer. :)

Hi there everyone, total noob here.

I soft modded my Wii but I messed up. I installed too many cIOS and lost functionality of gamecube games in USBloaderGX and WiiFlow. Here is a syscheck do you have any suggestions? I have anytitledeleter and several cIOS installers...

Hi, I'm using a wii u on version 5.5.1 E trying to install hb on the vwii mode.

I successfully installed the hb channel using smashstack, but the hackmii installer said bootmii can NOT be installed.

Does it just not work on wii u vwii?

Also, at what point can I stop using a 2gb sd card and move my files to a larger one if I'm using CTGP-R?

EDIT: And finally, what actually IS the jelly.bin file? I know that deleting it is the go-to solution for CTGP-R problems, but what does it do?

    Thanks

Don't crosspost the same issue in multiple threads.

alright. I just found out that my wii has actually been softmodded before, i dont know using what exploit but its already hacked. I bought it already used.
So it actually has neogamma if thats any help. I tested, and the version he installed is able to launch .wbfs files using a hard drive, if thats any help.

Is the latest neek2o beta anywhere to be found? I have tried their IRC channel but no luck.

    Another quick question here:

I've been using USB Loader GX (latest version) to save my GameCube games to my USB HDD; is this still the best method for this or should I be using CleanRip?

    Thanks!

    Update:

I used GCVerify and confirmed all my saved GC games (using USB Loader GX) are listed as "found", so I'm guessing they're OK.
