Nintendo wants to remind you that Super Mario 35 and 3D All-Stars disappear at the end of the month

Even though Mar10 day was just yesterday, and Super Mario Bros. 35 is still getting timed events in-game, Nintendo isn't afraid to alert players that the game will soon go away, forever. The Japanese Nintendo Twitter account sent out a warning reminding everyone that by March 31st, the Super Mario 35th anniversary celebrations will end, leading to the de-listing of the online battle-royale Super Mario Bros. 35, as well as the ability to purchase Super Mario 3D All-Stars. While you'll be able to continue playing the latter so long as you purchase it off the eShop, Super Mario Bros. 35's servers will be going down on that date, rendering the game unplayable.

Two other items will also be going away on that date as well: Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, a digital release of the NES game, localized for the first time in the west, as well as the Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. Edition. Presumably, physical copies of Super Mario 3D All-Stars and the Game & Watch will be able to still be found in stores, but according to Nintendo, it's only while supplies last.

Whats the point in removing games that arent that old.... well they are old but you know what i mean.

Likely a way to get a boost of sales.

Although I find the limited as3d run odd it doesn't worry me at all, I basically see it as a collectable, I'm not going to go back and play them as they haven't aged particularly well.
People that want it have it, others just don't have it, it's not like it is in high demand my local game store has a heap of copies.

As for Nintendo's online games I am all for them being delisted after some time, especially if they are not free games. After time the player base dies down and people (myself included) end up getting burnt paying for games then not being able to play online as there is nobody left to play with. I've been caught out with this by Dr Luigi on the Wii U as well as many games on steam.

If they bring out 10 different battle royale style games the player base will be spread across these leaving less people to play with. At least if they replace it with something fresh there will be a renewed interest.

And I'd like to remind Nintendo that stupid decisions like this are the reason I don't feel remorse in pirating their old games.
I mean, the best way to experience most DS and quite a few 3DS games is via emulation - that is, unless the game has a lot of stylus control (I personally haven't found a good substitute for actual stylus usage on console) or the game has an amazing BootNTR plugin (since Citra doesn't support plugins, unfortunately).

For example, Pokemon Ranger (stylus) and Pokemon Ultra Sun/Moon (plugin).

nintAPPLES grand plan:

1. take down a fanmade game and STEAL their idea.
2. release a ROM and charge full price for it
3. take it all away at a later date
4. encourage people to pirate :rofl2:
