New Inside Xbox episode teases “exciting news” for Halo: Master Chief Collection

Ever since the launch of Xbox’s Play Anywhere initiative, fans have been fervently requesting for Halo: The Master Chief Collection to be made available on PC. Though rumors have teased a PC port being in the works for years, the remaster remains an Xbox One console exclusive. That may soon change, however, according to Brad Sams, an insider who has correctly leaked information about Microsoft projects in the past. Sams originally claimed that The Master Chief Collection would be heading to PC, and would be a reveal set to take place prior to or during Xbox’s E3 conference. Though that alone wouldn’t carry much weight, Microsoft itself seemed to add fuel to the fire, teasing that their next episode of Inside Xbox would be announcing “some exciting news” for Halo: MCC.

If you’re interested, you can watch the episode when it airs live on March 12 at 2 pm PT. The hour-long stream will also showcase new Xbox Game Pass titles, and new gameplay for DayZ and One Piece: World Seeker.

Microsoft didn't start becoming shitty until Gates left, though. And at least Microsoft was broken up to keep them from gaining a monopoly. Now it doesn't seem like that's ever going to happen for another company, even though it needs to.
The Xbox division is getting better, though.. And Windows is about as user friendly as you can get. Wouldn't say they've been worse since Gates stepped down. Had a few rough patches, sure.

I really hope its coming to pc and gets a proper port. I never had a 360 back in the day and only recently picked up halo 3, and just couldnt play it because of the horrendous fps, and the sub hd resolution didnt help much.

It could be really exciting if it comes to PC, since there are people like me who never bought an Xbox console.
HOWEVER, it could potentially only be available in the Windows 10 exclusive game store, Soooo...I'll remain skeptical.

It'll 100% be a windows 10 exclusive. Which everyone should be running at this point anyway.

Well they're getting better now, but there were a lot of years between Gates leaving and now. The Xbox 360 was a complete disaster, and I'm convinced the only reason it sold any units at all was because Sony priced the PS3 at $600. Windows Vista and 8 were also garbage in their launch state.

It's sort of ridiculous that Microsoft was lit on fire over essentially including a Web browser in their OS, a standard practice in this day and age, with some OS'es like ChromeOS being designed entirely around the browser. I can't help but feel that in that particular instance the company was treated unfairly simply because it was successful. They were doing so well that they had to bail out Apple in order not to become an actual monopoly.

Agreed. I think the country simply wasn't tech literate enough at the time to understand why we were making the wrong decision. I can think of several good examples of corporations that need to be split up for legitimate reasons, but I don't think Microsoft was one of them.

LOL that is pretty funny how they just locked the remastered dead Halo franchise on a dead-on-arrival console. Its about FIVE years too late.

You all really need to kill all hopes of a steam release. Every Xbox Exclusive Play Anywhere game has been Windows Store only. I doubt MCC will be different. Assuming we even see a PC release. I also don't get the hate for it as I've not had any issues with the better optimized games.

While I doubt Halo will be anywhere other than the shit win10 store, there are games that are xbox exclusive and play anywhere that also have a steam release.

Killer Instinct
Super Lucky's Tale
Halo wars definitive edition
Recore definitive edition
Cuphead
Zoo tycoon.

All are xbox exclusive, all have play anywhere (on win10 store), but all have a steam release as well (no play anywhere).

Cuphead isn't an "Xbox" brand exclusive. The Halo spinoffs going to Steam isn't exactly a prime example. Killer Instinct needed a re-release to stay relevant and get that small boost of sales.

Gears of War 4
Crackdown 3
Forza (any of em, really)

The list goes on. The prime headliners I should have explicitly stated. Maybe I'm wrong. Who knows? I sincerely doubt we'll see it on Steam anytime soon.

Not all were published by Microsoft Studios, but at least a few of those were, so you make a fair point. If they want to maximize sales and maintain a healthy online player base, they won't make it exclusive to any one single launcher/storefront.

Can you even play Xbox players on Steam?
It's game-specific. In Rocket League you can AFAIK.

KI can, just checked. The point is fair and valid.. But on that same coin most of those are spin off titles and ones a failed attempt at reviving a cult classic fighter. I can't see them starting a Steam release train with something like MCC. I'd rather them bring it to Steam. For continuity and keeping up with both console and PC friends.

Yeah I still see the likelihood as low for the simple fact that this is Halo. Possibly the only other IP they've protected this carefully is Gears of War, and those games are still exclusive to the Windows app store after all these years. On the contrary, there is one Halo game on Steam already, and it was released only a couple years ago. So MCC wouldn't be the first in a chain of releases on Steam.

There's a couple.. Halo Wars and the Spartan 'x' games. I really should have worded my initial post better. Oh well. I still stand by the point.

I don't think it will come to steam, I also think they will try to keep "big" titles exclusive to their store, I just think sooner or later MS will get fed up of sending titles out to die on win 10 store.

I guess Microsoft finally decided they like money.
I enjoy my Xbox. I bought a 360 years ago for a 4 month out of town job. That was 5 years ago, and I have been using it as a monitor riser since. I don't care how good the "MC Collection" is, I won't be buying another overpriced under-powered proprietary microsoft home computer. However, if they are nice enough to eventually release the MCC to pc, I would probally buy a few copies for the members of my family who would enjoy co-op. I would also sell my monitor riser.
