Hey gisel213 here i aint posted in a awhile... Theres nothing wrong with your mods. I had a New 3ds xl that had the same problem black screens sound but could see recovery menu...
The answer is this bad camera open the console just remove the camera ribbon... You will have no camera but it will work otherwise... Cheers and good luck and leave that camera ribbon cable unplgged when you put it back together.

@TurdPooCharger Intentionally crashed ptm, the "2" in the titleID isn't shown so that's normal.

Yup 100% Correct all i could gather was the camera on that model somehow interacts with the home menu even if one is not using it??? Wheras on a 3ds or regular 3ds xl it will boot and show the home menu. But if the camera is activated it will promp error turn off the console odd lol... But who needs a camera when you got a9lh bs9 etc etc :rofl2::rofl2::rofl2: @ Ninty there i said it!!!

Okay one of my philips screwdrivers works. I'm trying this now.
Should be that one and good luck...

So much to take in. I am in total shock and disbelief.

@gisel213,

Since the start of this year when I joined GBAtemp and shortly after began record keeping about this specific BSoD brick, my biggest disappoints were being the bearer of bad news to those who, at no fault of their own, ran into this problem.

There is some poetic irony that 3DS homebrew has achieved black magic level of hacking, yet couldn't fix what seemingly appeared as a software-based brick.

This continually stumped us to no end whenever someone presented what was considered a 3DS death sentence.

Until today. *Aug 22, 2018

You sir, solved one of the biggest mysteries that has been plaguing countless 3DS'es since the conception of the 3DS itself. The ones who reported their BSoD findings is just but a surface scratch compared to the many who resign in keeping their systems' unfortunate faith to themselves.

Thank you so much. :grog::bow:

The 3DS has error codes for bad internet connections, bans, and service & app problems but nothing for faulty or failing hardware. Also, it doesn't have safety redundancy when they fail. WHAT THE HELL NINTENDO!

All this time we've been giving advice about battery removal + reinsertion, SysNAND Restore (Safe AND Full), Recovery Mode, CTRTransfer 11.5.0 & 9.2.0, Decrypt9WIP options, downgrade + upgrade, and Lazarus3DS... Time and time again we came up short, all because of this stupid camera!?!

HOW WERE WE SUPPOSE TO KNOW!!?!!?

Possible explanation: For Super stable 3D it has to prepare the camera so it is quickly ready when you move the slider up. For older 3DS models the camera doesn't matter at all and is only touched when needed.

I would try the following: Boot the New 3DS with odd topscreen angles to see if the ribbon cable is bad. Also try to replace the cameras and cables.

Bend the cables so they will become bad and grow a hair of a tear all it takes to make it go pop and turn off... Not a good idea buddy!!!

Not really. You open the lid and keep it in an unusual angle to test (if it suddenly works you know it's bad) for a bad ribbon cable. It's not more damaging than opening the lid normally.

Here are some news about the New 3DS XL

It works great. I played and finished Majora's Mask 3D without problem on it.
But there are still some issues and i don't know if it's related to the bsod. (There are many scratches on screens so i think the precedent owner wasn't careful with it :/)

Sometimes (very rare, happened 3 times only), closing the console will stuck it in sleep mode. (Black screens and breathing power LED) I can only power it off by pushing the power button for 10 seconds.

And i also have a screen flickering issue, especially on the bottom screen. It's most of the time invisible but it's here.
Sleep Mode is where it's the most visible:

Oh and another thing (but i'm sure it has nothing to do with the bsod issue):

@Msama, things wear and tear happen, but the previously owner did not take care that n3DSXL.

Your sleep issue may be related to the disconnected camera. Try keeping your 3D slider turned to off. If it happens even with it turned off, replace the camera.

Screen flickering are prone to happen on IPS panels due to weak power draw from dying or old battery. Try replacing the battery. If the issue happens again, you may need to replace the screen with a TN panel (you're not missing anything using TN for bottom panel).

Touch Screen digitizer needs to be replaced.

Thank you for your help. I already ordered a new camera so i have to wait now.
It now works flawlessly (except for the touchscreen and for now the camera). The screen flickering stops after 1-2 minutes so it's not a problem.

Just a last question. I also seen that pressing around the bottom screen will make pressure to the screen (part of the LCD turning white). I would like to know if it's only for me or if it's the same for everyone.

Flickering is a sign of unsteady power delivery. If your 3DS isn't being supplied with enough current or is undervolting, you can damage or kill the motherboard. Please rectify this by replacing the battery and/or bottom screen.

This isn't normal at all. If pressure from the stylus pen is causing the bottom LCD to turn white, there's too much pre-loaded stress on that panel. Open the n3DSXL + remove & readjust your lower LCD to relief pressure.

If the problem doesn't go away, examine whether there are distortions or bends in the 3DS shell or chassis. You may need to cross compare with a friend's n3DSXL as reference.

Your dead spot in the digitizer's touch input may be related to the white spot from the LCD. Perhaps relieving the pressure may be enough to fix both.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
