Update: I ported wiiflow-mod r935 to libogc-1.8.11.1 and compiled it. It runs fine, except:
  • Text reflections/shadows are upside-down (?).
  • I have no idea how to access the file explorer (not that I care).
  • I had a random freeze when trying to access a Wiiware game's settings screen.
  • You have to use "Exit to" "Real Nand" to exit Wiiflow, or else it will exit to neek2o system menu. This will likely cause a freeze if over the neek2o channel limit.

If anyone is interested and it's not going to annoy the Wiiflow developers, I can try to put it up somewhere?

So for now I have USB Loader GX for loading wbfs titles and non-problematic Wiiware from emunand, and Wiiflow+neek2o for loading problematic Wiiware from emunand.

Cyan says that neek2o booting is on his to-do list for USB Loader GX, so I can live with my solution for now. I wish that Wiiflow had a channel grid mode like USB Loader GX, as I'm not looking forward to downloading 800+ Wiiware covers or messing around to try to come up with alternate Wiiflow view modes that I might like better.

Please post this in the Wiiflow Topic..

Having a bit of a crisis here. Wiiflow boot with neek stopped working, had it set up weird somehow where neek would boot up my wiiflow/nandemu nand ( I liked this setup) But neek doesn't work at all now. I downloaded a fresh uneek+di setup from modmii, and put everything where it goes, but when I boot neek2o, it just goes back to system menu.

Lol, i guess i could have posted it here too, from the modmii thread:

Neek2o looks for a nand first in a /nands/ folder, so maybe its a bit off now.
You could try deleting the nandcfg.bin file in the sneek folder, copy your nand to /nands/[subfolder], let neek2o start from a channel, nswitch or bootmii, then from within the di settings select your nand in /wiiflow/nands/. If it starts again, you can delete the nand in the /nands folder..

Better still, just place your nand where neek2o wants it and adjust the path in wiiflow.ini

Are there any plans to support DI inside channels that depend on disks?
Either Postloader launches all apps outside the sandbox, it itself breaks out of the sandbox, or CFGloader and Riivolution all break out of the sandbox.

Question:
When going into the Wii gave save menu under neek2o, is it normal for the Wii to freeze when trying to return back to the prior menu?
Just upgraded to a new USB drive and want to make sure this is expected behavior, before I start configuring everything.

So I figured out that Riivolution's doing the jailbreaking.
Is there any way to lock the sandbox to prevent evil apps from escaping from it? I need DI to work.
Maybe changing the memory addresses???

Davidmt, I toggled between the SD and Wii save menus, and my system locked up as well. Guess I'm sticking to Save Game Manager GX.

Also have my own question: is it possible to store channels on the SD card for use with the emulated NAND? I thought enabling SD card access in ModMii would do this, but the system menu keeps telling me "An SD Card process failed." Or is there a better option to store/organize channels beyond the main menu?

Well, my neek2o works fine with everything, except:
He can took 10 minutes to load menu, and 10 other minutes to launch a channel/game
i already tried numerous different nands, reinstall completely and nothing helped, still took a while.
any help? Thanks.

its probably due to the amount of games you have. i have quite a few games, and every time you transition, neek2o reads the list again. it sucks bad but that's how it works. mine can take 20 mins sometimes.

Well, the amount of games if a problem, even because i have no interest on using him for wii/gc games, just wiiware/VC :(
But thanks a lot man!

Hi, I have some questions:

  1. Will out of region Wads work (NTSC / JAP) on my PAL emunand or do i need to have a JAP nand.
  2. Can i change nands from Di menu?
  3. How is GC support? does it work on uneek2o?
I'm trying to get DM / DML working and can't seem to get it. Can the GC game be run off the DI menu or do i need to load via Postloader? Should i install the DML.wad to the emunand? (it has to be on the nand because i don't have a physical harddrive attached to the wii).

Thank you!

#1 should work most of the time, but not always, and you'll often get corrupted text when it does. I'm lazy enough to put up with it, but making an emu NAND for each region is recommended.

1. I'm using the latest beta and for me it supports all VC/WW I have, both in and out of region
2. Yes
3. For me it works fine, but for some others it failes

I'm trying to install USA wads on a PAL nand.
I always get "this channel cannot be used"

Is there anything i'm missing?

Wiiflow appears to have a special feature that lets it command neek2o to transparently launch individual channels from the emunand without having to manually boot into neek2o. Can documentation for this API be made available to other launcher authors? Would love to see this feature in USB Loader GX, for example, because its channel browser has a banner mode that looks the most like that of the System Menu.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
