He said that he is only testing how it fits inside the console right now... if it doesnt fits and he soldered it, then he has to desolder them and solder different ones... why do that extra work

Ok, but what is he going to use to keep the PCB in place? I thought the point of the pogo pins was you didn't have to solder to the 3DS itself. Just because the pogos are soldered to the pogo board doesnt mean it will magically stay in place, something still has to keep the board from moving.

ye, will just do something like n1ghty did, some tape to keep it in place and some sponge on top/under and maybe left side against the metal shield to help some more and keep it isolated from everything else.
should hold it in place good enough for the ocasional use. anyway this is just a solution to keep warranty valid, or i would just solder the wires directly to the pcb, much easier.
tomorrow will continue.

Yeah I've just never soldered anything before. I've spent the last couple days practicing, have yet to work up the balls to actually put a screwdriver to my DS. $160 I don't have to spend again.

Just thinking of the pogos as an alternative, even if it is a bit more set up it seems like less risk if I slip or something soldering.

I could see some sites start to mass produce these solderless boards (for xl only though) for sale once everything is figured out
maybe as a whole kit with the micro controller and all set up and ready to go

Its posible for normal 3ds too by using a tipped pogo pin for clk line

Quick question. I know reading/writing NAND only requires 4 pins (cmd, clk, ground, and dat0), but unbricking requires dat3 as well, correct?
As the number of pins needed is now five, what is the best solution for a clean mod? Micro USB won't work, because there are only 4 pins there. I can't find any good 5-pin connector.

LOL, fail at me. I assumed micro usb was USB, which does have 4 pins.

Edit: oh wait, pins 4 and 5 are shorted with a resistor. Same issue.

ah, so its not done by default! Where can I find a microUSB cable that uses all five pins so I can splice it? Do most USB - Micro USB cables have this cable, but don't connect it? Or do I just have to purchase a standalone male header (right word) and solder the wires onto the pins myself?

Hmmm I'm not sure tbh, I pretty sure the extra pin was for enabling the port to allow different functions I.e mhl, not sure what the name of the plug part would be

These should work, and have the 5 separate connections and look easy to solder too

One thing to consider when using these is if someone accidentally plugs a USB cable or phone charger into it....they are pretty common connectors and it would virtually defiantly fry your nand

That looks good, but I would really rather not wait two weeks. Well, I can see what is at the local radioshack. I might wind up going with a 4 pin connector for GND CLK CMD and DAT0, and a one or two pin connector for dat3

Edit: also, does the unbricking code immunize your console from having it occur again?

Yeah they probs will have them pretty sure I seen them in the uk equivalent called maplins...but only the little tiny solder point ones

As for immunising, I think someone was looking into a way of preventing any future locking, but not ATM

No, the code has no imunising so far, I already looked into it last night and I could do it very easily... but permanent things scare me...

An underrated opinion: While Bluesky as a platform is better than Twitter, Bluesky's userbase won't be better than Twitter as people are saying because everyone from the non-bootleg site are moving to the bootleg one expecting for themselves to change with their attitude, but that never works like that.
  • DragonMals @ DragonMals:
I will say though: Bluesky as a micro-blogging site? Needs a bit more oomph and I would officially like it better than Twiter. Can't even post gifs on that site, like what the fuck?
