r4 in 3ds not working

I just got a R4 Gold Pro 2024, it took an absolute age to get here but i got dissappointed with it not showing on my 3DS Home menu, not even a DSi works.

It could have been relabled (naughty). I can't link to where the information came from that i'm using but does it have touch bomberman for a label or something else?

it shows nothing, nothing at all, just a empty icon, I have suspicion that it only being 8 GBP from ebay
 
Process of elimination:
  • Verify original games work normally on your 3DS
  • Please try an old DS or DS Lite to rule out blacklisting issues
  • R4 carts are often of low build quality (missing precision) and might have contact problems.
    • A piece of paper behind the PCB can apply a little more pressure
Most R4 should show a logo even if the micro SD is missing but you should try a different micro SD anyway.

Last option: Dead on arrival R4.

i initally tried flashing ntrboot so could i possibly flash a new flashrom and it could work?

What is the url code on the box or cartridge?. For example, r4isdhc.com, r4i-sdhc.com carts or r4i-gold.eu. These cards are known to have or have had timebombs meaning the card will appear not to work in some way. This can be fixed by putting the system date and time back a couple of years or more. If we know more about the cards origins so we know what card it really is we might be able to get it working for you.

Then according to what I linked, it's probably a clone. There are firmware downloads for whatever clone it is on that page but they might not be the most up to date. You could hack the 3ds of course but that is a more detailed and perilous way incase it gets bricked in the process. If it was me and neither of the clone firmwares worked, I would just send it back and get a refund before it is too late.

My 3DS also has CFW installed, yet it still doesnt work, not even in godmode9, it does kind of work in ntrboot_flasher but it cant be written to for some odd reason

could that mean my r4 was completely ****ed in some weird way, thats causing it to not work the whole time?

I am getting a new R4, same model, but hopefully wont take an absolute smegging age to arrive, coming either tomorrow, or as late as friday. This one is directly in the UK, not from China, and its slightly more expensive at 11 GBP

On that note, this is specifically why I went with an AK2i. It's one of the few carts that can act as a hybrid ntrboot cart. Meaning, you can use it for both it and games without having to reflash it or flipping a switch. It has some quirks when using it with TWLM++ in 3DS mode, though, so it's not without its caveats.

but when i tried the old r4 in another 3ds, it worked, but im just gonna keep using that as regular use, but now i can enjoy the best of both!
