Hi! I decided to write a post here because I have a very peculiar problem with my New 3DS XL. Any help would be appreciated.

3ds boots into GM9 and Luma (v.13.3.3). However, it can't access the Home Menu; it shows unlit screens, and the network and power LEDs are lit. I went through the entire "black screen fix" article on the Homebrew Wiki.
The console booted to the initial setup menu after a manual CTR transfer.

After setting up a profile, it sttoped responding to the Home button on the screen where you are asked to press it to access the home menu. (During this, 3D and sound work, and the Rosalina menu can be accessed with a key combination).
2DS/3DS Saver doesn't allow me to skip the setup (although I'll probably try again) it just leads to black screen again. The Home button works fine in GM9.

I'm sure it's a software issue. A hardware test showed no errors, and all ribbon cables are intact. As mentioned, during the initial setup all functions work fine. Any suggestions?
It seems to me as if some data related to the home menu has been corrupted? Maybe I should try finding a .cia file for the 3DS menu and installing it? I'm really frustrated

Was this unit working properly before? Did something happen to it before you started seeing these problems? Does anything different happen with the SD card removed?

hardware test showed no errors
Please be more precise by what you mean by "hardware test".

Maybe I should try finding a .cia file for the 3DS menu and installing it?
It seems unlikely there is anything you could install that way that would not be covered by a manual CTR transfer.

I bought it in this condition(black screen power+WiFi LEDs on). The seller said that it worked, but the SD card died. After that, the DS just sat in the closet for several months. He didn't have the time or desire to deal with it and he sold it to me.

If you take out the SD card, the same thing happens.

what you mean by "hardware test".
I meant "3ds_hw_test" application.

Could this behavior be caused by a faulty chip that detects whether the console lid is closed?

Thanks for your reply.

how about ctrcheck?
I've tried it several times now throughout my time of tinkering with this 3ds. I don't think I've ever got anything weird.

New full scan:
"Information: NAND header is stock. (n3DS)
Information: Luma3DS is in the NAND, but GodMode9 isn't.
Warning: b9s v1.3 installed to firm0.
Warning: b9s v1.3 installed to firm1.
Warning: The SD title.db needs to be reset. Reboot and go 0010 into System Settings -> Data Management -> Nintendo 3DS -> Software to do this."

The last three warnings appeared only now after I unsuccessfully tried "ctrtransfer Type D9".

There are instructions regarding that on the page.
Yes, I will update b9s, but I don't think that this is what causes such strange behavior, since last time I checked the console after manual CTR transfer, ctrcheck wrote:

I think I'll order a new control board after all and try it.

This would seem to be inconsistent with some sort of control board failure.
Yes, but the slot for the home menu button ribbon cable is on the motherboard.
I'm interested in the board for the ABXY buttons, etc., since it contains a chip that tells the console whether the lid is closed.

Roughly speaking, my theory is that the console can't launch the home menu no matter what because it "thinks" the lid is closed and simply gets confused because of it when I try to press the home button during the initial setup.

Doesn't the unit still properly go to "sleep" if you close it in the middle of initial setup?

If you're not aware, the "lid sensor" is just a magnetic sensor over the ABXY buttons, so you can also test your theory by placing a magnet in that area.

I remember closing the console several times during the initial setup and on the screen offering to go to the home menu hoping that this would somehow affect the situation, but the screens continued to show the image when the console was closed.

As far as I know, there is no specialized magnet at the top of the console, and normally the sensor reacts to the magnetic field of the speaker, so the "magnet" cannot be missing.

I replaced the board with a new one. Unfortunately... it didn't work. But at least the power button is more responsive now. I think Lazarus script is my last resort, since I tried everything.
