You're all going to jail. Please enter your name and address below this post and one of our many men in black will be with you shortly. Please help expedite the process by having your computer unhooked and boxed up, along with all your flashcarts and burned software so that it is easier for us to use--I mean, easier for us to dispose of them properly.

With Love,

Your government.

26,500 R4s!?

Yep that much will obviously be noticed by the authorities. Maybe a 100 or 200 won't and probably would have been a way better choice for resell. Now how much did he spend? If I go by DX that's about $5 each. So he spent $132,000 on them!?

I don't think they arrested him for selling flash carts. I think they arrested him for selling R4s. That man is basically a con artist. selling outdated carts to people like that. If he chose something like the AK2 I think he would've been alright.

26,000 R4s? thats $260.00!!! assuming that they are R4s, I bet the shipping cost more than the carts themselves.

I wasn't aware that flashcarts were illegal in the UK, it appears that I and the place I bought my card from are in the shitter :S

Although as someone mentioned earlier he was most likely importing illegally making it a crime but the ELSPA being involved makes me, my supercard and my CFW'ed PSP nervous. I don't get it I think that its piracy that's illegal not the actual flashcart. As far as I know I can legally make back-ups and play them unfortunately as a result this also means I can pirate them (unfortunately for Ninty anyway) but I'm not completely sure on the ruling for that in the UK as it stands. Seriously this guy's just managed to get unlucky and its a completely unfair arrest and ruling if he imported them legally.

The source news is right, its akin to jailing somebody for owning a blank DVD because of something he could do with it, THOUGHT CRIME PEOPLE!!! We'll be down the 1984 route soon enough.

I remember the old days, back when DS-X was still alive. Someone should keep a mirror of their forums, purely for the lulz.

Come to think of it, I remember when R4 was still reputable

Im getting shivers just thinking of that

I don't know what anyone has against R4s. And to be honest, I don't really care.
I'm still using my original R4, and it's working great.

R4 in its time was a good card, but the number of clones sullied their good name. Plus, the original R4 team's disbanding has allowed the clones to permeate the market.

The original R4 was fine but it is no longer produced. Every R4 that is produced now is a clone with no support by the manufacturers.

That's stupid. You shouldn't be arrested for what you could do with a device.

I'm glad I live in Canada. It's legal to use modchips and 'back-up' your games and movies.

Apparantly nobody around here reads.

It is legal in the UK to have flashcarts and modchips, mod your consoles and backup your games. It is legal to import flashcarts.

This news story is unrelated to flashcarts, it could have been 26,000 DSLites for all the law cares.

Here's a page outlining the legalities of flashcarts in the UK: Click
