the GBA dump function works by the user alternating the GBA game and flashcart, it will copy 2M to the of the GBA then ask you to insert the Flashcart.

eg.
-Insert GBA game,
-dumper will copy 2M to the DS
-insert flashcart
-Dumper will copy that 2M over
-re-Insert GBA game
-dumper will copy ANOTHER 2M to the DS
ect.

you just alternate carts.

Ahh, thats what I was thinking, but I thought all that plugging and unplugging would freeze the DS

Can you dump GBA saves from an original cart this way?

I've got another question related to this:

How is it possible to make ROM backups from games you can download from a Download Station at a store?

not too sure, but i think you need a specific chipset wireless card (atheros or something like that) to pick up packets. Must be some software involved too..

SD5k:
it works best to have 2 ds systems. one to run the download station as a server and another to download and run the game from (just like you'd do if you were in a store capturing a demo to play it).

rumour has it that download station vol3 will be made available late tonight / early tomorrow

I like how this thread has a 2:1 ration of questions:answers, or so it seems to me. So I will add a second question: When you get a game's dump, do you also get the .sav? I'm borrowing Metroid Prime Fusion from my friend, i got far, but now i need something like "infinite energy" to beat the boss I'm at because, face it. I missed half the pickups in the game. And i don't want to have to go through the whole game again, i just want to cheat and walk away from it. (Cheating from loading the .sav onto visualboy, using cheats, save after i beat him, and move the save onto my flashcart, and then returning the original cart to my friend)

imgod22222 -> When you save using SuperCard / G6 / M3... it creates a .sav file you can backup

By the way, the WRG dumper doesn't work with SuperCard SD.

answers for the questions then:

1. your ds system must be flashme'd in order to capture an image
2. there are 3 different apps out [there] to capture a ds image
3. although the original application was written for the GBAMP and CF M3, it, along with the other 2 programs will work with the G6 lite and supercard flash kits
4. the image that is created is a "clean" image, so you'll still need to use the game manager software associated with your flash kit to run any of the images.

any more questions?

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So that version is semi rare
