Hacking LUMO+DStwo+Gateway?

In 2k17 that soon gonna became 2k18 I'm still using this two flashcarts, cause I find them really convenient in certain scenarios for 3DS and DS games alike.
I'm currently running 4.5 firmware with emunand provided by Gateway software.

If I upgrade to Lumo CFW using nifty 3ds.guide that worshiped by many, will I be able to use the flashcarts after? I believe there is a patch that unban DS flashcarts, but what about gateway, is there a workaround to make it compatible with Lumo as well? I mean something like a patch or plugin or something. So I wont have to juggle nands around all the time.

it's luma, not lumo
luma3ds is a cfw that is booted on coldboot by boot9strap; boot9strap is a hack that is installed to your nand and is executed on coldboot
because boot9strap is unremovable with luma3ds on top, you don't need to have an emunand for it, you just use sysnand
also, luma automatically unblocks flashcarts, there is no need for an external patch

i'm assuming you have a 11.2 emunand for GW, yes? you can get a .firm file (.firm files are what boot9strap loads) that loads GW mode on coldboot when you press a certain button combination on boot

which is why you dualboot luma and gw mode, with boot9strap being the bootloader
you don't run gateway on top of luma, it's impossible

there are some reasons why someone would want gateway instead of luma

• some people don't like waiting around for CIAs to be installed, so they use .3DS files instead
• gateway has cheat support that some prefer over ntr cfw

I just did this and it's working great so far. Some bugs in Luma (crashing freeshop/CIAngel), but other than that working good. DSTwo+ will work in sysNAND mode too, so the only reason to boot into GW emuNAND is to use the emuNAND GW card.

Don't use DSTWO+ for 3DS games, only use it for DS games.
Are you using .cia versions of FreeShop/CIAngel? I've used both without problem both on GW and Luma but I only used the .cia versions. For .3dsx homebrew on Luma you should use this HBL: https://github.com/fincs/new-hbmenu/releases with either hblauncher_loader (not recommended due to possible bans from using cia homebrew/VC injects while online) or Rosalina with HB title set to Download Play.

Ha, typo, meant GW card! And for DSTwo+ - Obviously, it doesn't support 3DS games .

Are you using .cia versions of FreeShop/CIAngel? I've used both without problem both on GW and Luma but I only used the .cia versions. For .3dsx homebrew on Luma you should use this HBL: https://github.com/fincs/new-hbmenu/releases with either hblauncher_loader (not recommended due to possible bans from using cia homebrew/VC injects while online) or Rosalina with HB title set to Download Play.

Yeah, I'm using CIA for both of them. They run good most of the time, but sometimes Freeshop will crash if I keep the console idol, or if I leave it idol on the download screen that shows download progress. I can't think of steps to recreate in CIAngel, but I have seen it from time to time which prompted me to use FreeShop in the first place.
