Geohot is back and limera1n just got released moments ago! I've been waiting patiently for greenpois0n and my patience has finally paid off - it will be released in 12 hours.

So have you already tried limera1n or are you still waiting another half a day for greenpois0n?

I can say limera1n works on the iPhone 4.

But greenpoison will not be released in 12 hour's. 16 hours and 30 minutes.

limera1n may work, but GeoHot himself confesses it is VERY buggy. It uses the same untethering exploit as GP will, which Comex trusted GeoHot NOT to release. He abused that trust and released anyway. I would avoid the tool, simply because GeoHot is being incredibly egotistical IMO, and GP will be out soon, with this new bootrom exploit implemented instead of SHAtter, so as not to reveal two exploits to Apple. Its a good thing some people in the "scene" have maturity.

I'm avoiding until a less buggy release comes into being. I want a good, untethered exploit for my ipOd Touch 3G and apparently the untethering exploit in limera1n is a bit glitchy on my iPod. Will use whichever is more convenient (probably the next release of limera1n)

@sifjar Oh shut up, geohot has done the right thing by releasing now, he makes all Current gen devices jailbroken and he's trying to get them to delay shatter because it will work on future devices
Plus, apple are already aware of the exploit geohot used

I'd trust greenpois0n. It has been worked on for a long time for a reason, to make it work (unless Geohot has been making it after he quit

That and the fact that limera1n doesn't do all that it was supposed to do. (aka 2g mc model)

I hate Geohot so much for this. i wish he could have saved the exploit for when we needed it! now we have 2 permanent exploits. he's just made it harder for others and stolen devteam's glory.

*Rage*
He believes Apple know about the exploit he has AND it works on many more devices than SHAtter. If he let them release SHAtter then not every device out now would be jailbroken for life and it's possible that Apple would patch both SHAtter and limera1n on the next bootROM. Now only limera1n will be patched and SHAtter may still be open for the next major iPod release

What's Geohot going to do after this? Go back to his cave or discover (/steal) new exploits? He did the "right thing" for now, but I still wonder if he is to be trusted.

I'm going to wait for Greenpoision on the next iOS version, just carry on with my snowbreezed 4.1 iPT2g and leave my iPT4g alone for now.
Never touch one of Geohot's JB's. It's just a matter of principal.
Besides, he has a big enough Ego already.
Plus there's now way he spent 6 months on limera1n.
My 2 cents

Limera1n Isn't buggy at all.
And for the people that say it doesn't work, try running limera1n.exe as administrator.

Just cause it worked once for you does not mean it is not buggy. GeoHot, creator of limera1n himself, said it was buggy as ****. All reputable iPhone hackers (e.g. Chronic Dev Team, p0sixninja, MuscleNerd, comex...) say it is buggy and unstable. I think they know what they're talking about more than you tbh. Of course, it is true that it has worked for many people, but it also hasn't for many others.

Sorry, got mixed up. Thought he was on about the payload, not the actual exploit.
Surprised the exploit works for all iDevices when the hole was found before the three newest one were released
