I formated my 3ds system memory by mistake, then I lost the save data of ditigal games downloaded from eshop.
Before I formated it, I backuped the nand.bin and all the files of sdcard to PC.
I can find the *.sav. but when I copy the sav to 3ds after I redownloaded games from eshop, it came out with 'Save data Error'.

I tried using SDF(SAVeFL), and found it seems that I should use it to backup the savedata before formating.

Is there any way to restore .sav after formating system memory? Or should I restore the NAND and use SDF to backup the savedata?

I would want the same answer please. I understand that .sav files have an unique "Id" for every console. So formatting the 3ds changes the console ID so save files with not matching IDs are not compatible. But I could be wrong

A nand back up would fix it, so long as you have all of your original SD content intact. The nand contains the unique key that your saves were signed with, so just copy the Nintendo 3ds folder back to the root of your SD. Just keep mind that any games you downloaded since formatting won't work. Out of curiosity, are you working in Sysnand or Emunand? If you are working in Sysnand be careful.

I tried restoring my NAND.bin to Sysnand. The directory turned to the right, but every app disappeared. I don't know what was wrong. I tried again and again these days made me tired. I gave up. All I lost is just some good savefile such as The legend Of Dark Witch 2, but now I have the skill to beat the game easily and smoothly. I will play these games again to get a new and better savefile, and try to export it with SDF. It's very luck that I don't play games which need collecting forever such as MH series, lol.

PS:
I know that the savedata files has a ID, and the ID is the unique key while the system initialized every time. I wonder if the savedata is encrypt by the ID, or it just saved the ID.
According to SDF, It seems that there is a way to export the savedata without the ID, and import it to another with a different ID, so is there a strong necessary to use a savedata with the related ID, or is there a way just to delete the old ID in savedata and import it with new ID?

When you export a save using a homebrew, it does not have the key. Saves copied from the Nintendo 3ds folder do have the key. If you use svdt or another similar tool the exported save can be reimported to any copy of the game, digital or cart so long as you can run homebrew on the system.

That will be convenient.

I'm trying with my Pokemon Alpha Saphire copy using Save Data Manager

EdIt: Nope, no luck. It tells me "the saved data is not compatible with this version..." Basically, nope What I'll do is transfer all my pokemon from one sav to another. That'll do

Nope, no luck

I just found that if some files is modified by 3DS, the 'modified time' won't update, that makes most of the tools for sync and backup on PC can't work well.
I used BCompare to sync files yesterday and it made sad work. Try diff files with contents, not 'modified time', or there will be a mess of files.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol

So that version is semi rare
