Someone getting money off Nintendo's console getting hacked sounds like a great way to stir up trouble with the Big N.
Don't think Nintendo cares if the person got paid for it or not. Gateway and Sky3DS is a still a thing, probably because hax are like a hyrda. Cut off one head, two new appear. You just need that initial release to get the ball rolling then all hell breaks loose.
Besides there are just certain areas ninty seems to just have given up on, where is our emergency "patch that crap" firmwareupdate? Nintendo used to jump through hoops to kill that stuff of with updates ASAP, just mention the word "stability" in this community and you got your solid proof.

I said I would donate. But I just wanted to press the money button to make myself feel rich. In reality I'd never give money away it someone else is stupid enough to do it.
I hardly think it's fair to close a thread where we're just discussing and airing an idea. If we actually start creating a donation page without you guys's consent, then I feel like it's fair to lock this thread but unless anyone does that. I don't see why we're not allowed to discuss and ask if people would be open to it
And even if someone did, unless they aggressively try to draw people in for it, there still wouldn't be a reason, the idea itself isn't exactly wrong or questionable, it's just the execution that needs some thought.
I suppose the mods had a big shitstorm to clean up the last time a bunch of people got scammed so it's understandable that they want to prevent a shitstorm v2. But locking a thread because we're just discussing something they don't like us talking about is wrong. It's relevant to the Wiiu and to Wiiu hacking and we're not promoting piracy so I don't see what's wrong to be honest.

If we HYPOTHETICALLY(pls no ban) made a fundraiser collecting a pile of cash for a dev, I assume we'd ask a trustworthy veteran admin/mod to keep the money in an escrow paypal account until an exploit is published. That should be fine. Cause if we don't trust the admins enough to not run away with a couple of hundred bucks GBAtemp has bigger issues to worry about than an IOSU exploit.
Or be rational about the difference in prices and also stop assuming that it's all about piracy, we HAVE piracy allready.

The hype around IOSU has gone since the 5.5.x exploit got leaked, not really sure if someone will still bother (I don't) when NX is probably just around the corner.
We got it, hail the NX. I still see and have a lot of interest in the scene AND development.
This thread got created and people still ask for IOSU eeeeverywhere, just not as frequent, which is logical.
At this point I don't care anymore, I shelved my Wii U already and probably going to sell it while it's still worth something. If IOSU comes that would be great, if not I would just move on with my life.
I'm happy with the kernel exploit, all I need is octobaehax to be happy.
Same, it's just wrong to say the interest is low. And while a am happy about what we have now. I'm still excited about the benefits IOSU would bring.
People keep talking about the "small benefits" that remain, this is entirely untrue. Modding would be way easier, any kind of application including selfmade can just be installed to the homemenu, custom-menus, better emulation, so much nice jazz^^

Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
