I know where I could download ROMs if I wanted to, but that's not what I want to do.

So you could use the ROMs in emulators and whatnot?
With a tool like TCPGecko or cafiine you can grab whatever ROM the Virtual Console is using and actually play them in emulators on your PC, yes. With cafiine you can even send a different ROM file to your Wii U and play it there.

What do you want to do?
you can´t emulate wii u or wii u vc so if you want that you can´t do it
I want to extract the ROMs from the VC games. I've done this with my regular Wii VC games, and wanted to see if I could do it on Wii U

That's exactly what I wanted to know, thanks!

Most work tho. I tried running Animal Crossing on the Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training VC and it somewhat worked, however it crashed after the character driving the taxi :(
yeah I forget what rom it was now but the sound data used a different compression. for some roms these changes may just be bug fixes

So same can be done with Wii games? Not vWii but Wii games that are available on Wii U
It's probably possible now (but no one really cares to develop tools to do it) since we have access to practically all of vWii (what the games run in) and enough access to the Wii U's data to do anything practical.

EDIT: gamesquest1 has a good point. This may take a little more trickery than I initially thought... I have no reason to believe it's impossible, though.

probably not, atleast until we can dump our tickets to get the title keys as afaik booting into vwii will remove cafiine/pygecko so no way to dump anything once you boot up a vc wii game as it plays in vwii mod with some additional patches for gamepad controls (i guess that ^ may be true, it might be possible to do something with vwii mode to dump the game, but idk tbh as i assume wii vc games can only be launched via the wiiu homescreen (i have no idea really) which could be a problem

as for everything else,
n64 and NDS roms can be dumped via pygecko by simply dumping the file system
Nes,Snes,GBA all need to be dumped from ram and may be revisions/patched roms

which roms?

the games I tested were the same.
only one i know was megaman battle network gba, never really played the game, but the person who i helped dump it said the VC version had some extra items unlocked , and the rom we dumped from ram was indeed different.....im assuming that was done because some items required network play or something to unlock, so nintendo/capcom just unlocked them as the network feature doesn't work on wiiu.......but thats just a guess

I would like a Predator game "Kill Team" it takes place in the Jungle of the first movie, your team is sent to hunt the predator, using current tech drones and a trained team. Set traps use strategy to hunt and trap or kill the predator.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Ill stick with my Battlefield. Yea a predator hunting game like that would be cool. Esp if you can be Arnold and say "Get to da choppa"

I went today and looked at a motorcycle someone was selling. I get there and the battery on it was dead, so the guy grabbed a battery charger and hooked it up. He plugged it into the wall, and the motorcycle sparked and started smoking. Come to find out the bike uses a 6 volt battery and the guy had the charger set to 12v. I said sorry to the dude and walked away. I felt bad for him tho.

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
He ruined it basically. Sad cause it was a decent old bike. It would take more money to rewire the bike than it was worth tho.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
