It's been a while since I last updated the firmware, probably about a year. I also overwrote the EOS files, since I didn't know if a new version had been released since the last time I did it. Now that I'm trying to play games, I'm noticing these framerate drops that weren't there before. Mainly in 3D games, and perhaps most noticeably in the title screen for Animal Crossing, where it's like a slideshow now. Also, specifically in Animal Crossing, I've noticed that load times seem to have increased by a noticeable amount. Anyone have any idea what's going on here, or how to fix it?

I tried reformatting and it doesn't seem to have worked.

However, one other thing I tried was to open Animal Crossing in "clean" mode instead of "patch." That actually did help the frame rate a little, but it still wasn't to the state it was before I updated.

EDIT: I replaced the v1.12 EOS files with the v1.11 files and that seems to have fixed the slowdown issues. I have no idea what was changed in that update that might cause slowdown though.

You need to download the upgrade file that's on the official site. It's right above the link to the latest firmware. It will be a .nds file. I went through the same thing.

Ah, I see what you're talking about. I don't think that link was there when I first updated, so I'm guessing it has been added recently.

Where do you even put the file though? In the main SD card directory where you would put a normal upgrade file? I'm just asking since this file is an .nds file, as opposed to .dat like firmware upgrade files normally are.

Put it in the root directory, and run it from 'DS_Game'.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Booo.

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
