Exactly as the questions says. If I've got emunand on my sd card do i still need to access the website to boot to emunand and gateway mode or is there an easier way?

Eh website option that means that you are on 5.x+ you won't even need the blue card for the installation.
Since it won't work on 6.x+.

So far there's a 99% success rate in downgrading. As long as you follow a proper tutorial there's no need to panic. Regarding the blue card - it doesn't have to be the blue card. Any DS flashcard will work.
Care to point me to a said "proper" tutorial? I've been using youtube videos but downgrading has me jittery.

  • Download the right downgrade pack (USA region if you have a USA 3DS) and place the "gateway.dg" file in the root of your 3DS's big SD card.
  • Go to Gateway Menu.
  • Back up your 3DS's NAND using Gateway's Backup NAND feature and you'll get "NAND.bin" in the root of your 3DS's big SD card.
  • Recommended: After you backed up your 3DS's NAND, back up everything the SD card contains to your PC. You can put them back later after downgrade.
  • Go to the downgrade feature and downgrade to below v4.5.
  • Optional: You can restore your 3DS's original NAND back by simply holding UP when enterting the downgrade menu to go to the restore menu.
Benefits:
- By downgrading to 4.x you can install the DS Profile exploit, which will allow you to get into Gateway mode much more easily and does not require an internet connection or any external devices to help it
- In 4.x you may place fake access point profiles in all 3 slots so that you will never have a chance of accidentally downloading the Nintendo update.

Disadvantages:
- This has had good results so far with the community, but you may BRICK YOUR CONSOLE doing the downgrade.
- If you play any retail cartridges (roms and .cia do not have this problem) on a newer firmware, downgrading to 4.x will make their saves unreadable. In other words YOU WILL LOSE YOUR RETAIL SAVE GAMES. Currently there is no way to back them up and make them work on Sysnand 4.x -- even if you go into Emunand 9.x they still will not read and will show corrupted in game.

TY for this detailed reply! Im in the process right now. Just to make sure I understand this right, once I've installed the profile exploit I can load into Gateway emunand from sysnand profile without the blue card or website correct?

I really don't see the point. 9.2 is a better firmware than 4.5 and the browser exploit doesn't actually require Internet to work. I'd rather keep my 9.2 firmware that has the updated encryption keys, bug fixes and themes than downgrade. What exactly do you get on 4.x that is better than you get on 9.2? The only thing is has is a subjectively more convenient exploit.

Yes, after you installed the DS Profile exploit, you don't need the blue card or the internet browser exploit. Be warned though, if you play a DS game, the DS Profile Exploit will need to be re-installed again.

Has something changed since last week or what? As far as I know you need an Internet connection to launch the browser exploit. It's true that 9.2 is "better" but you can't compete with emunand. The beauty of a 4.x firmware is the simplicity and the fact that it's not bound by any other factors than the launcher.dat file on your SD card.

Ok I successfully got my sysnand down to ver. 4.2.0-9U but every time I try to run the blue card exploit i click on the deep labyrinth game and it gives me an SD/TF card error. I've even formatted my SD card using the Panasonic formatter.

Just checking, but you're using a microSD card for the blue card right?

yes the micro in the blue card. If I format through windows the only options I get are exFat and NTFS is that the problem? Or maybe the size is too large 64g?

EDIT: I got it done. Dug out an old 2g card I had so that I could do a FAT32 format. My card was too big, the irony.

TY all for all the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Replace the launcher first or format then both the sd to exfat/fat32.
Gateway should support 64gb you might try another smaller one.

No nothing has changed. You can host the exploit on your phone so you don't need Internet access and you still get emunand with 9.2. You get better emunand with 9.2 because you'll be able to use the 9.2 keys. 4.x + emunand will likely always use 4.x keys.
