you gotta play through a good part of the game before it will elt you trade.. you cant just start it and go to the first poke center to trade.. so if you cant read french, your not trading anything

I've already played through a good portion of the Japanese version just by guessing, and if I recall as soon as I was able to catch Pokemon I was able to trade. I hacked a Mew in Platinum and had no problem trading it and now it leads my party in HG(J).

Unless you are thinking GTS for those who don't have two DS's.
