There's no wii u folder on the SD card which means there is no Haxchi/CHBC installed. But to be safe, delete any NDS VC game and reinstall it.

seems like the owner didnt done any chbc/haxchi before, possible to do a system reset(factory reset to clean the previous owner account and downloaded demo game) and purchase the vc game to begin the haxchi mod?

Yes, but do you have his NNID password? Else you will lose all the games installed right now and you'll have to pay for them (You'll lose the licenses to the software) I wrote it in code if you don't understand:

'reset console'
if know password
delete games

else
delete games + licenses

Okay, seems like there is no Haxchi or Coldboot. Guess you could download your homebrew safely or wipe the console. Did the Hulu icon change to Hulu Plus?

Hi Bro,

Just free time to think to start to haxchi the wiiu. Just tried again the wiiu, noticed that when enter the wii system, still can see the hblauncher and usbloader at wii system and playable the wbfs file from sd card
while the wiiu was in 5.5.2 from previous owner

continue to haxchi mod with no problem? if assume that ex-owner just hack the vwii when he at 5.5.1 and during sold the wiiu, he updated the system to latest 5.5.2 while vwii still usable in 5.5.2 system
the wiiu will brick only if the device was in chbc and we clean and reset the device rite? the brick will be scary part to me

I think it's ok, vWii is different than Wii U, I don't think there will be any problem. Just make sure that the Haxchi title is on your Wii U, not USB, or you'll brick

I know this thread is OLD, but I need help. I got a Wii u that seems to have been formated, and it shows a message on boot up saying it failed to read SD payloads folder. Booting without modifications. I didn't get an ad with it. Idk what to do as I wasn't planning on modding.

That's probably FailST. if it doesn't find a payload.elf in the Wii U folder it will just boot normally. What happens if you launch the Health and Safty App?
