Hi all

I'm a long time reader of the site and I need some help. I have written about my problem before and never got it sorted - and am now really keen to have one more go before I factory reset everything and start all over again.

I bought my Wii U many years ago and hacked it in 2017 using the Wii u hacks guide website. it was running 5.5.1. I had bought brain training (my exploitable virtual console game) and I ended up installing Haxchii. Using Haxchii I would then load Mocha CFW. This is what the guide recommended at the time. When I posted this questions before, people said that you don't need both - but I swear to god, the WiiU hacks guide at one stage had you installing both. I would turn on my WiiU, click on Mocha, Id see the mocha logo and it would load into another home screen. It was excellent - I managed to download a bunch of WiiU and virtual console games (um...for..um... free) on it using WUP installer and life was good.

Anyway everything worked well for ages. However, when we renovated our house, I packed away my Wii U for over year and pulled it out a while back. When I was trying to get it running, mocha wouldn’t ‘load’ and there would be an error when I tried to play a game. I couldn't figure out how to fix it and I read said upgrade to tiramisù. So I did. I followed the Wii u hacks guide and ended up uninstalling haxchii and following the guide perfectly. I upgraded the firmware to 5.5.5 and followed the guide EXACTLY. (I have hacked a bunch of Wii U and 3DS in the past - and although I am a noob, I can follow a set of instructions)

It’s not working properly. Im unsure what I am doing wrong. When I turn on the wiiU the blue screen pops up (screenshot 1). It says installer and tiramisu. Im assuming this is the correct startup screen. When I click tiramisu and select a game to play, it either says “the software cannot be used - the Nintendo network id used to purchase this software has been deleted” or it says "there is an error in the update data" (see screenshots).

I’m bitterly upset - the console is set up just how I like it and it took ages to get it to this stage. My daughter is 7 and is just getting into gaming and I am so keep to play mario and just dance with her. I really need help.

My questions are:
1. Please please please does anyone have any advice on how I can fix the console so I can play the games
2. If i was to factory reset my console - would it be case of doing that and then following the wiiU hacks guide to hack it again?
3. Am I able to copy the external hard drive the games are on and copy them to a new hard drive that the factory reset but same console can play?

thanks to all

Either missing sigpatches OR you do not have Tiramisu auto booting.

What happens when you launch the health and safely screen? Do you get a warning about running the environment twice? Do games work after launching H&S?

You're probably just missing sigpatches:

Anyway, I smell other errors here, too. please check your SD card and your MLC for errors. See https://3ds.hacks.guide/h2testw-(windows).html for the SD and wait for @SDIO for MLC.
Thanks for your input. I’ve finally got a few days to try your suggestions

- I’ve downloaded the newest sigpatches file and installed it over the old one, which was in the correct location (see picture).

Is that all I have to do? Or do I have to somehow install it? (Sorry I’m such a beginner).

After just copying it into the folder this is what I get when I try and start a game (See second photo)

I am currently checking my SR card using F3X swift on my Mac. May take a few hours.

When the Wii u loads it sends me to the blue menu (from my first post). I click tiramisu. Games don’t work. I’ve tried updating the sigpatches today (my copying the relevant file to the correct folder - is that all that’s needed or do you need to install it somehow?)

When I do click on health and safety I get the following

Why do you even need to use the health and safety again after you installed Tiramisu? The blue screen let you select Tiramisu to auto boot as default. So do that and leave the H&S alone.

For the sigpatch, just copy and paste it and that's all it is. Have you tried boot up the games yet?

In case you tripple checked the sigpatches are at the correct folder update Tiramisu.

In case this won't help, too, check your SD card with https://3ds.hacks.guide/h2testw-(windows).html - as told b4 this is what you should have done anyway...

Also checking your MLC is still highly... now even extremely... suggested for a shitload of reasons. Search the forums for a link of SDIOs recovery_menu with MLC checker.

Thanks

I will have one more look at the sigpatches today

My SD card passed the test using F3X swift on my Mac

Will check up the MLC as suggested and report back

Okay - I am still yet to figure this out

Firstly I wanted to thank those who have read my post and a bigger thanks to those who have written their suggestions.

To those who have posted above. I have done the following
- Updated Tiramasu → I now see a red screen on startup that says I may not be blocking updates (which is new). at least I think this means it is running properly
- I have checked and rechecked - the sigpatches is up to date and in the correct folder
- The memory has been checked via F3Xswift on Mac → and has passed

To V10Later - Can't seem to find how to check the systems MLC - but I will continue to look

I am still at a loss of what to do. I thought maybe giving some more information may help. The first photo shows my start up menu. I have forgotten what the sysnand folder is - it's been so long so i hacked my Wii U. You can see brain training is there as the bought game that allowed me to use Haxchii. Also all the games are on an external hard drive attached to the WiiU. Will this make a difference.

When I start any games the following screens pop up (Screen shot 2 and 3). Starting Zelda windwaker popped up the "Your nintendo ID has been deleted" screen. When I tried to play Breath of the wild - the screen stating "there is an error in the update data" screen pops up.

None of the Wii U games (including the shop) work. Neither do the virtual console games. However interestingly the Wii (edit) Gamecube games that are on the external hard drive do work (Im unsure why). The last photo is what my 64GB Sd card looks like that I use for the WiiU. I can see there is still a haxchii folder present. You can see signpatches is in the correct folder

I do have a couple more questions
- Anyone have any other ideas on what I can do to try and get the WiiU games working?
- Should I just uninstall tiramisu and reinstall haxchii?
- Is there anyway to start over somehow - likely factory resetting the WiiU but keeping the games on the external hard drive?

Thanks once again

(PS: I am trying my best to implement the suggestions that people come up with in a timely manner - between work and my three kids, I find it hard to game and am addressing my WiiU issues as best as I can)

Okay

I'm sure almost nobody cares about my issue but I thought I would give another update after another few hours today

I uninstalled tiramisu as per the Wii hacks guide and reinstalled Haxchii. Still had the same issue. Then I loaded mocha. Still had the same issues (ie nintendo network ID has been deleted)

Any other final suggestions before I nuke the whole thing and start over

Those gamecube games on the external hdd. Are they in iso format or injected? Also, I was gonna suggest that you use NUSspli to download a small game, any game and install it to nand, ext hdd or even a usb stick just to try out. Or even wii u downloader. Where did you get those games anyway?

But seeing that you've travelled back in time and reinstall Haxchii and that's still not working. Well, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hi again

I think I have figured out what's happening with my system. Looking at some quite old threads on GBATemp - i wonder whether the old mocha technique used Rednand. Rednand may have let me play unsigned titles and for whatever reason maybe "upgrading" to tiramisu or going back to haxchi hasn't let the games play due to them being "unsigned" (Maybe)?

Anyone have any other ideas?

That's what I was saying! Get NUSspli and dl a small size game, any and see if that will work. To use NUSspli you're going to have to reinstall Tiramisu again, might as well go with Aroma at this point but whatever works for you.

Another update for anyone looking at this in the future…

I tried to reload a haxchii/mocha combo but couldn’t get the right files. I then deleted haxchii and reinstalled tiramisu and installed NUSspli. Downloaded a few games and they are now working. Am now slowly re-downloading all the games on my external HD but the console is now playing games which I am very very grateful about.

Thanks to all those who posted. I had been out of the Wii U hacking scene for so long I had no idea NUSspli existed. It’s a beauty.
