Hey! I'd like to burn the game Medal of Honor (for PS1 console) which is over 700 MB and so I couldn't burn it onto a 700 MB CD-R. I know 800 MB CD-Rsssss exist but I guess PS1 wouldn't read that type of extended 800 MB CD-Rsssss. So how can you burn a game which is over 700 MB to make it work on a PS1 console like Medal of Honor (PAL = EU) bin+cue files. (Not iso)

Hello.:)

I don´t know where you get your ISO and I don´t wanna know it either.:)
But what i know is,that all PSX iso´s I know always fit on an 700 MB CD-R.
You can use the Tool IMGBURN for that work, that should do it.

Thank you.:)

Please NO Question(s) about from where that ISO and what that ISO is please.Thank you.:)

There is a certain type of the bin / cue format which is always larger than the actual size of the game.
You should be able to just burn it without issues on a 700 MB CD-R.

NOT ISO... cue + bin

I used imgburn and it didn't let me burn it onto a 700 MB CD-R. That's why I wrote to this forum.

That's odd, if you mount the image with a virtual drive, you will see that all the files on this disc are way below 700 MB.

Maybe you can mount the disc and let imgburn make a copy of the virtual drive onto the CD-R.

first, if you are going to be an asshole to anyone wanting to help then no one would like to help you.
second, calling a bin/cue an iso is correct, iso is also used as a shorthand for disk image.
third, no ps1 game is larger than a 74 minute cd, so your bin/cue is a bad rip or not a ps1 game at all.

There is NO solution, ignore the 700+mb bin file size, just use ImgBurn to burn onto standard CD-R, as long it's a bin-cue file and you be fine.
Sometimes you will find PSX games that are 700+mb bin file size, don't know the ins and outs but it's the way the bin file are created, I did burnt a few 700+mb bin-cue PSX games a couple weeks back.

Just a wild guess: Game rips may contain subchannel data (which may be needed because of Libcrypt). Many PS1 games also contain audio tracks and CDDA is bigger than data (700MB blank media holds 80 minutes of CDDA which has 800MB)

See also: [Wikipedia] CD-ROM

Both would make the resulting Image bigger than the actual data.

For testing I just ripped Tomb Raider 2 (Pal) twice. It has many audio tracks. Results with/without subchannel:

773247312 15. Apr 10:18 tr2.bin (738M)
742923888 15. Apr 10:41 tr2.bin (709M)

Which means in both cases the resulting .bin file is bigger than 700MB (or 702MB).

that's because the cdrom standard uses 2352 bytes per sector with part of it being for error correction unlike other media that uses multiples of 512 (hard disks typically use 4096 bytes per sector) and no error correction. so a "block" of data of a cdrom ends up using more space thanks to the error correction info.

It's not about the language, it's about care. He didn't even care to read the title.... It tells everything.
Like I give a fuck. Whether or not you solve your problem is irrelevant to me and everyone else on this forum. The only person it matters to is you. If you want to solve problems with the support of a community then you're going to have to work on your interpersonal skills. Yeah it's frustrating when people get the wrong idea about your problem, but that doesn't give you an excuse to be rude.

You can try this:

https://www.deepburner.com/?r=download

I was told it can be done. Depend on your size. You said over 700mb. You didn't say specifically size. A little bit over 700mb can be done. For around 800 mb or less then I don't think so.

I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

never had that i don't think

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
