For me I don't think I've ever found more than a few coins. My brother found $20 in a shop. He decided to turn it in and gave it to the person at the counter, just in case someone lost it and comes to claim it. A few days later, the next time we went shopping there, the owner of the store told us no one has claimed it and gave it back.

Including the ransom drop briefcase? £100000 (or krugerrands were exchanging for that at the time) + maybe about £300.

It’s not exactly finding it if you planned it. Thought it should be something more like the movie Dumb and Dumber.

When I was younger, I once found two coins worth 5 Deutsch Marks each, so 10 DM (about 5€ nowadays) at a gas station. I felt like the richest man on earth, because it was more than the half of my pocket money at the time.

I found what was probably 2grand in 2 wads of 20pound notes next to a public phone box (yeah, it was a good few years ago) There was a guy using the phone at the time who saw me pick them up. To prove they were his he showed me another 3 of the same wads of 20's.

At the time it was more money than I'd ever seen, felt great waiting for the bus with a pocket full of change to my name while he sped off in a beemer.
