How do you feel about the Switch 2 UI?

I'm not into Switch modding yet (I'm going to buy one soon) but with V1 Switches there is fusee-gelee.

I was into it a bit And yeah I know about fusee-gelee. But meant more current standings with current models.

I feel hitting a cap is definitely only a problem pirates would have to worry about but on my unmodded system I currently have a group with 107 titles in it. Which is a LOT seeing folders on Wii U and 3DS stored less.

Ah then that must have been increased a while back. I can remember a time when 50 was max IIRC.
But no not a pirate, a collector really as I do have roughly 460+physical Nintendo Switch games and then there are digital games etc.

They'd get clowned if they tried selling Switch 2 for that price with themes either way, so why bother? At least they held out the longest with making something cool. Both 3DS and WiiU had pretty decent dashboards.

Tbf most of the outrage is coming from the $90 games, a 50% price increase from last gen.

Some 49,99 €
Most 59,99 €
Some 64,99 €

If they will cost here more than 64,99 €
I will not buy any games.

But back to topic.

I dont know why nintendo is marketing this abomination as Switch 2.
Its clearly a switch 1 pro model, nothing more.
And nintendo will not succeed with this.
If you look at the launch releases, its clear that nintendo has nothing to release for it.

If they had made at least a new ui from scratch, to make it look different, but no. It looks exactly like the switch 1.
And me dont like it!

So this thing looks like a switch 1, it is a switch 1.
Nothing tells me by the look of it, that this is a new console.

Fair enough in the past I've just only seen the posts about people hitting title limits being pirates lol. I personally have a collection of 97 physical games currently.

They're already confirmed to be 80€ digital and 90€ physical. Minus 10€ for both prices for Donkey Kong.

UI is pretty decent imo, I think the lack of themes is a little disappointment, I would've liked to add a little pizzazz like with the 3ds and switch (thx to homebrew in the switch's case)

Now that we got a deeper look into the UI, I really like all the new beeps and boops. They seem more charming that the Switch 1 IMO.

I gave the video a quick glance while I was college earlier, the new sounds do have a little charm to it tho I wish dark mode had the little gradient selection outline that the light mode has (the screenshot I saw was just the flashing light and dark shades of blue the switch 1 has)

i like the new sfx. i want to rip them so i can use em for a theme

It runs like butter, it let's me easily pick the game I want to play, and has no fluff.

We spend very minimal time in the menu, and no an advertisement to be seen, even for other games.

I swear yall WANT your menus filled with ads and shit.

It does the job and that's all that matters.

It could allow to create folders or categorize software/games like it's possible on PS4, but it does the job so it's fine.

I'd love for Nintendo to add folders, we sorta have that with the collections feature but that requires U to go into the all games menu, so having folder for the main home screen would be nice

I'm not a fan of it, but at the same time I'm not surprised that it's basically the same thing as the SW1.
The Switch 2 is basically the New 3DS but for the Switch generation of consoles.

All I want is fixed sorting so the last played games don't jump to the front. I'm probably alone in that request though.

I really think they should've done more with the screen space. Add some more info! Fill some of that dead space! Made a horrible mock-up to show what I mean, I guess. (As if this has not been done in a bajillion fan mock-ups)

The problem with the Switch's huge success is that it probably made Nintendo reluctant to change much of anything. But, I think the main reason is that the Switch 2 will share the same firmware with the Switch (hence the launch system version will be 20.1.0).
