  • Name it something better than "Switch 2". I don't have an idea, but Switch 2025 sounds cool since it's a cool sounding year number. Switch to? Switch to WHAT?
  • A slightly bigger 3DS XL that is dockable to play on a TV, no wobbly sliding joycons. The Switch 2 is far too big, it should've been more moderately sized. Big enough to have good battery life, but comfortable to have in your hands.
  • The marketing color red instead of black, because it's Nintendo, they should be bold with their brand colour, I mean red is everywhere with the Switch, and red is a nice colour and not used enough in consumer products. The normal GBA color was purple, why can't the new Switch be a nice red? The brand of Nintendo is about fun over "serious mature gamers" anyway, Nintendo products should be colourful.
  • Make the menu UI different to the Switch, make it less boring and basic. Switch menus just do the bare minimum, needs more effort, give people something nice to look at instead of this generic shit
  • Less greed and better prices (because who wouldn't?)
  • Launch with more games
The Switch 2 is just a bigger more up to date Switch with more bullshit

Switch 2025 would’ve been unclear and confusing. Switch 2 is clear messaging of what the system is.

I personally really like the larger size, The screen is nice, but some will obviously prefer something like a Switch Lite. Very much preference based,

Red is a bit much for me in terms of colour, a neutral console is the safer choice for a launch period, though I’m a little sad we didn’t see something like grey or white to go with the black. Just some variance. If they did go colourful at launch they’d definitely have needed a few options, which in fairness could’ve driven sales more. Not that they really needed more launch sales though lol.

Menu is boring, agree with that. It’s functional at least, but bring back themes!

More games at cheaper prices is what everybody would want. In terms of the launch lineup though the Switch 2 is pretty much in line with every other major console. It had one big headliner, a few smaller titles, and a roadmap for a solid launch year. For those who want more games at better prices, just wait a year. Launch games will be cheaper and there will be more of them to pick between.

That’s my thoughts on your thoughts anyway.

Switch 2 is fine and avoids people thinking it's an add-on like with the Wii U, yes this actually happened, having the name tied to the year may also cause confusion e.g. expecting an annual release ala smartphones.

Expect a Switch 2 Lite at some point

Red might be to garish for the main body of the console, although I wont be surprised to see a Red edition at some point e.g. a Mario bundle

Boring but practical so don't mind

Almost everyone would like lower prices, I'd expect only a tool or someone who benefits would say otherwise. That said, the Switch 2 is still selling so I doubt they care.

In some ways it makes more sense to have a decent stream of games than to launch them all at the same time, just make sure they're reasonably spaced, although make sure third parties have a decent opportunity as well e.g. early dev kits.

Another post from someone who just looks at their consoles and doesn't do what they are intended for...

Play some games and you'll realise how everything you said will disappear from your mind and you might actually enjoy it!

As for the red casing... DIY 😉

I agree with the last 3 points 100%. The first 3 are kinda... meh

  • A slightly bigger Blah, blah, blah
  • The marketing Blah, blah, blah
  • Make the Blah, blah, blah
  • Less Blah, blah, blah

The Switch 2 is the best selling gaming device of all-time in human history and thus above criticism from pre-teens who know nothing.

I agree.

No, this did NOT happen. There were approximately 100 idiots confused at the Wii U announcement. None of them, as in not one of them, were confused a year later when the console actually launched, nor did they remain confused for 5 years of the Wii U's lifecycle. That would suggest that those 100 people were actually braindead. And braindead people do not purchase consoles. In fact they are incapable of buying anything by definition.

That excuse was absolute BS invented by Nintendo apologists looking for some other reason other than that the Wii U was a steaming pile of shit with a tiny library of games compared to the PS4 and Xbox One, which were actual 8th Generation consoles that could run next gen games. That is the REAL reason that console failed. The Wii got away with being a slightly more powerful 6th Gen console during the 7th Gen because of the Wiimote. The Wii U had... a shitty controller with a screen that literally no one asked for and that Nintendo spent years trying to figure out a purpose for themselves. There was no way even with a PERFECT name that it would have done anything but be Nintendo's biggest failure ever (VirtualBoy was not a mainline console nor expected to sell in numbers).

Nah I hard disagree. The Wii attracted a super casual audience. Every one and their mother had a Wii with Wii sports and party game xyz. Because look fancy motion controls. These people are not super invested into video games and the core gaming audience is almost non existent for the wii. I'd argue at least 80% of the wii's install base was like this

So when nintendo's initial marketing focused so heavily on just the gamepad and not that this is a brand new machine. Hell the very first game shown in the reveal trailer was new sup U which looked identical to new sup Wii and the name is Wii U instead of Wii 2. The casual audience they have collected went "oh this must be an new add on of sort for the wii like the balance board or the countless wiimote accesories' I had to explain to countless people who had a Wii back then that the Wii U is actually a new machine with its own games.

And well the core gaming audince would have understood but they already sailed ship and why check out the wii u when the rumored next generation xbox and playstation are on the horizon. So the only people left that bothered with the WII U was diehard nintendo fans.

By the time nintendo realized this the damage was done and turning it around was next to impossible. When MK8 and smash 4 didnt spike sales they way it needed you know the console is fucked.

I know someone IRL who did, even at one point buying a Wii U game and being dissapointed that it didn't work on their Wii. This was also years after the Wii U launch.

The name is boring but works. It prevents confusion.

This is all a matter of perspective. I'd prefer something closer to you're describing too but Nintendo is doing just fine with what they went with.

The menu is basic but works. I'd like to see themes come back or a more exciting interface at least but introducing new features risks introducing security vulnerabilities. It's unlikely to happen for something completely optional no matter how much fans want it.
Less greed and better prices
I agree but Nintendo knows they can get away with charging more.
Launch with more games
It had plenty of games at launch, especially when you take into consideration most Switch games run on it.
The Switch 2 is just a bigger more up to date Switch with more bullshit
I agree but if Nintendo continues releasing fun games, which they have, I'm just fine with it.

I mean yeah it's one of the fastest selling consoles ever but yes let's see your bright ideas about how it can be even more one of the fastest selling ever? Lmao pretty arrogant

100% wrong about that. You're speaking from a hardcore gamer perspective, not from the casual gaming market that made the Wii a best seller. This system named caused serious market confusion people didn't know what they were buying.

I was excited about the idea of being able to play Switch games on the TV by docking the handheld console, but I kinda wish they'd release a more portable-focused console like the 3DS too, ya know?
Though, I wouldn't buy it anyway since it's too expensive lol.
