I got a switch for my boy at Xmas, I come home today to find all 4 game cartridges have been destroyed by the dog.

I showed my boy how to change games, he didnt put any back in the cases and the dog had a munch.

Maybe, Mario odessey is salvageable, the rest are completly damaged

So now I am here looking at homebrew.

I have just read about the model, the serial is patched as its a new Switch.

Can a hard (soldered) mod work with the newer switches.

I need a new case for the game and it may work. The others have been binned.

That sucks bud, sorry this happened. :(

Since the current switch is patched, maybe you could let the kiddo play the salvageable ones for now (hopefully :(), and maybe pick up a low serial switch from ebay or etc. Once you get the new (old) switch, can sell the newer model back on ebay for (prob a little less but roughly) the same price. Since a user not much into hacking may be happier with a newer model, its kinda a win/win. You will also be gaining extra homebrew and unlocked features that you wouldn't otherwise have access to.

I remember seeing stories about the cartridges having a bad taste to them when the Switch was first released (so that kids wouldn't try to eat them). Apparently dogs don't care...
Gah!! I think they used something bitter to humans, but unwittingly irresistible to dogs. :O

1st pic might be doable, might be cause i see bite marks i don't like, but it might not damage too much. the other pic, i don't think the stress on chip can get repaired.

I'm always amazed at the mental gymnastics people will pull to excuse warez.

I never would've guessed, "The dog ate my games", would be one of them. :P
to be fair, if the kid can't take care of his games i'm not sure it'd be safe to hand him a homebrewed switch, too easy to mess up
Maybe if the kid (or the dog) chews up a SXOS dongle, he'll see that as a sign to go back to legit purchases.

Uhh, what happens if doggo eats the switch too? Dont think Nintendo will send him a new switch whether he hacked it or not...

Or maybe they send him a new dog

Just going to throw this out there, for anybody with kids, I STRONGLY recommend digital game purchases. That way there is nothing to loose / damage. In this instance, you could try reaching out to Nintendo since those are all first party games. You might get lucky, but I wouldn't really expect anything.
