So looks like a fix for those 2D games will come soon, courtesy of flyinghead :)

Hell yeah. Would that also improve Capcom vs. SNK and MvsC2 ???

Will I finally get the girl that wins the ticket for Iraq and will take me for rides of as many meanings as what "taking a ride" would mean!?

@Smoker1 The fuck? I thought CVS2 ran fine on the DC...or are you talking about the NAOMI version, of which, btw, I never figured out how to get the Atomiswave or the NAOMI games to even boot. Apparently, one needs the MAME versions now or something, which is nice since MAME needs a new romset for every new version they release in the name of "accuracy" and "preservation" which is cool, but I'd rather have the peace of mind knowing that, when I run a game on an emulator, I'm not going to have to scour the Internet for how to get it working after all of the setup is said and done.

CVS2 runs perfectly but CVS1 stutters all over the place. Anyway, great news about 2d games! Waiting for the update.

I just find this whole "3D games work great, 2D games can be shaky" thing to be such a weird phonemenon. Usually, it's the 2D games that work better first, with the 3D stuff hopefully getting better down the line. Dead or Alive 2 doesn't even run as well as it currently does on Switch on my ODroidXU4!

Still, if they can fix everything up, I think I will have a reason to pull out my hacked Switch once again, especially with 3DS emulation being a practical possibility on the device...somehow, considering that I've heard Citra's requirements aren't exactly something a $500 laptop from Walmart/Best Buy could probably handle.

Now, if only we could get good PS2 emulation on this miracle of a portable system...

... Just stop about ps2 and gcwii already. Its not gonna happen (on this switch gen at least). As for 2d games, the problem was stated a couple of times, it was related to switch memory bandwidth due to high amount of sprites on screen.

Oh, I'm aware of that in regards to the Switch. I'm just saying that it'd make for the dream handheld for those to be practical, with the PS3 being a big bonus *GPD WIN Max intensifies in that regard* (I'm actually not BS-ing on this: & ).

I couldn't remember about the 2D games situation due to this topic not really being anything close to a thread with the release tag, and it also being kind of hard to follow the discussion back when this topic got a lot of traffic on a consistent basis.

Can't get past the Soul Calibur initial save/load screen when you boot up the game for the first time. It tries to endlessly load game data that doesn't exist. I'm on the latest flycast on RA 1.9.0. EDIT: Noticed this seems to be a general issue across certain games. Games like DOA will save/load fine whereas Street Fighter 3 will not.

I’m running the Flycast stand-alone nro, latest ci build. Everything is running ok except for some games, for instance Sonic Adventure and Re-Volt, they are capped at 30fps. Any one know why?

I've checked a bunch of other games and they suffer the same problem.
18th Wheeler, Looney Toones, Donald Duck, Re-volt.

Just checked with Redream (on Android 10 - switchroot) and I've got 60fps on Sonic and the other games.
For some reason Flycast is capping the games at 30fps.

dude, these games run at 30fps on DC, Re-volt apparently needs a certain profile name in-game to run at 60...if they run at 60 with redreamn, then there's a patch applied (or some fps unlock in settings). To unlock 60 in flycast you have to use 60fps patches manually.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
