I have a 3ds that i never updated and is on 2.20 my R4i Gold 3DS from www.r4ids.cn currently works fine on the system. I want to get my son Mario Kart 7 and Mario Tennis. Do i need to do anything to the card prior to updating the firmware? When in the 3DS menu i see the Dorasu(halo icon), im not sure if it had been updated to the appropriate level it needs to be to play these newer games?

I bought the r4i gold 3ds (r4igold.cc). I downloaded the update, and did all the steps in this link http://www.r4igold.c...d_3ds_4.2.0.pdf but the icon in the 3ds menu is Spongebob's Atlantis Squarepantis THQ...Is this normal or I am missing something?

the list i posted above is only for that specific selected card
not yours
they all use different parts of data
if you follow the insructions on that pdf you should be fine

Also the R4i Gold works with Wood R4, which is one of the fastest updating kernels out there. Not to mention the R4i Gold team updates their card's firmware faster than any other team out there, so there is very little wait. It also doesn't suffer from the annoying connection issue that the Acekard 2i suffers from.

apply it to your card by running the update nds file

EDIT: ignore this post the update works fine on the ak2i, my sd card however died, just one of those 1 in a million chance things i guess

ok guys front page has changed a little

i need more info on some cards but now to the left of there name it says a version they where last confirmed working on
if people with the cards on the unknown compatibility test or confirm they where blocked on the firmware later is can add to the corresponding list

Put the update nds file at root, run it from the menu as if you were launching a game.

Okay, I did that. The icon on my home menu for the Acekard2i changed to 'Rafa Nadal Tennis', but my Acekard is still showing me on 1.8.9z. Is it safe to update my Acekard to AKAIO 1.9.0 now?

I'm still on 3DS 4.1.0-8U, by the way.

lol Acekard updates and AKAIO updates are 2 very different things

Acekard updates are for console compatibility
AKAIO is for Game compatibility

as long as the Acekard update is working for the system it doesnt matter what AKAIO or Kernel your running
