I noticed this problem just today, I opened up FCEU GX and decided to play some Batman. I pressed A to launch the game and it just froze with a sort of partially darkened version of the FCEU GX Menu, so I reset the system. I went back and the same thing happened, so I thought I'd try another game to see if the emulator was messed up.
The other 3 games I tried all loaded up fine, so I thought I might have a bad rom or it had been corrupted since I put it on the SD card.
I took the SD card and put it into my computer and tried loading the rom up in FCEU and it worked fine, so I copied over the rom again with a 1 at the end of the filename so I had an extra copy of the game on the card.
I put the card back in the Wii and loaded up the newly copied rom and it loaded perfectly fine, so I decided to open up WiiExplorer and change the file name of my original "Batman (U).nes" file to "Batman (US).nes" and the file now loads fine.
I don't know if there's a problem with the settings on my copy of FCEU GX or if the Latest version has a bug or what but I thought if anyone was experiencing the same type of problem, you might try changing the file name and see if that works for you.
EDIT: I went back and tested more games only to find out that my rom "Bomberman (U).nes" experienced the same glitch. I first thought there may be a bug in the program that doesn't like "xxxxman (U)" together because my copy of "Mega Man (U).nes" doesn't experience this problem as the words Mega and Man are separated from each other but upon further investigation I changed it to "Megaman (U).nes" and it still loaded fine, then I went on to try "Bomberman II (U).nes" and that just froze so I changed it to "Bomberman II (U) [!]" and it booted perfectly fine. Very odd indeed, maybe the emulator doesn't like words that star with B to end with man when it's combined with a (U) by it self?
EDIT 2: Please see further into the thread for updated info.
