Delete the patchOffsetCache and fatTableCache files for DQVI in "sd:/_nds/nds-bootstrap/".

I noticed a small problem with TWLM++
I have a N2DS XL with 256gb MicroSD, so I have a lot of ROMs for older emulators. I've been using TWLM for about a year to play original DS games, and thats pretty much all I use it for because my older ROMs are all played through Retroarch.

I recently updated my TWLM from v8 to v9.4 and, I read that TWLM now supports other systems such as Snes, Sega, and GBC. Well, my Snes and Sega folders have a LOT of Roms, and it takes TWLM forever too load, literally some of my folders will cause TWLM to get stuck on the "Now Loading" screen permanently, forcing me to shutoff the 2DS.

I realize the DSmenu only supports a maximum of like 50-100 games per folder, but when I turned my system back on, I tried reloading TWLM only to find that it was still trying to load that same folder (and was still stuck). So as a last resort I had to completely reinstall it.

Since I can use RetroArch for my other emulators, I will just stay out of those folders when using TWLM. But I wanted to point out this little problem, in hopes that maybe someday you can add a Cancel or Back option to return to the previous folder. Or add a settings that forces TWLM to return to a default folder upon rebooting (as an option) please

While TWLM is great for playing original DS games, I find it difficult to organize my games with TWLM. I wish there was a better theme layout, maybe something closer to the 3DS homescreen, or my personal favorite SupercardDStwo, so that I can see more icons on screen at one time without having to scroll too far.

I also wish to hide/remove the "Delete" option in TWLM, I dont want to risk somebody accidentally deleting any of my games.

Thanks for all your work :)

Okay dumb question probably but wow there's 400 pages to read through.. so I'll just ask.

I already followed the guide on dsi.cfw.guide and everything works. But I wanted to use my r4i gold 3ds rts with this since compatibility is mostly better. I'm not sure how though. It won't read it anymore. I only installed this with twilight menu++ as a replacement because my dsi is in Japanese and I wanted English.

@Robz8

Here are another 2 .ips :
Houkago Shounen (Japan) (YHGJ)
Anpanman to Touch de Waku Waku Training (Japan) (A3PJ)

More results from testing :

  • Super Scribblenauts (Japan) (BH2J) needs to have the AP message removed from TwiLight Menu. It is the only game/region in the series to not have AP.
  • Club Penguin - Elite Penguin Force (Germany) (CLPD) needs to have the AP message applied to TwiLight Menu. It is the only game/region in the series to have AP.
Attached is a list of 68 games that have AP but don't display the AP message in v9.4.0.

Also, given that TwiLight Menu now has its own AP .ips patches for almost all games, would it not be beneficial to change the displayed AP message to for example :
This game has AP (Anti-Piracy). Make sure to update to the latest version of TwiLight Menu.

And a second different message for the remaining 8 games that need to be patched via alternative methods (not the rom tool) :
This game has AP (Anti-Piracy). You must patch this game manually. Refer to the TwiLight Menu thread for more details.

Hey, I got a question. So I’m about to install this on a friends 3DS for him, but I’m wondering if there’s anything I need to install anything beforehand to prevent bricking similar to unlaunch?

Loading NDS homebrews with the latest version has been a pain. When I try to load a homebrew such as DSx86 or MicroLua DS, it goes into the "Now Saving" screen (takes a few seconds), and then the screen turns white ("Now Saving" doesn't fade out), and boots me back to TWLMenu++. It takes me up to 5+ tries to successfully load a homebrew.

Disable "Update recently played list" in TWLMenu++ settings.

Thanks a million for the quickest answer ever! The problem was solved.

One tiny problem remains: After I launch a homebrew, I kind of expected the POWER button to either boot me back to TWLMenu++ or the DSi Menu. However nothing happens, forcing me to hold the power button to turn off the console which is kind of tedious.

EDIT: Actually, two problems. Launching the "Last started ROM" app does not give touchscreen support.

Something minor.

With the Acekard theme, it doesn't retain the position you were on the list (of games) after launching a game. It always goes back to the top.

It would be nice if it stayed on the last selected game

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

It inserts a newline in a random spot.
