Which Safe Updater?

WAD method will only install the System Menu and it's IOS. It won't patch or install anything else, so you will keep your cIOS, cIOSCORP, Bootmii, etc

One major thing to note about xzxero's update is that it doesn't upgrade boot2, so you can always downgrade to 3.3 or below. Aside from that, tattar8 is right. It doesn't overwrite the cIOSes or put in the other anti-piracy stubs. I believe it does update your IOSes though.

If by safe updater you mean this: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=184057

And by xzxero's guide, you mean this: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=171901

Then xzxero's is just a manual install/update. Like already mentioned, you won't loose Bootmii, cIOSes or softmods (preloader/CIOSCORP).

However, if you use the safe updater, you will be doing an official update through Nintendo but you won't loose Bootmii or cIOSes. In both cases boot2 will be left alone but you will loose any softmods.

So, guide = more involved but saves preloader/CIOSCORP.
SU = easier but looses preloader/CIOSCORP.

Depends on what you need/want.

    like i searched all folders
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
are you using haxchi, tiramisu or aroma?
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    yeah
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
no, I'm asking which one of them you are using
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
in that case, there is no such thing as homebrew launcher for aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
you have to launch your homebrews directly from the wii u menu
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
there is a plugin that display them on the wii u menu, pretty sure it is enabled by default
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    so like it doesnt exist
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    yeah
    ?
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
it doesn't exist, at least not for aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    ohhhhh
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
on tiramisu you can access it by opening mii maker
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    okay
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    nope
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    it is L+dpad down+ select
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
but homebrew is appearing in the home menu btw
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
    yes, now I remember it
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
then it is working, I also don't like that they did this but it is the only option you have if you are using aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
i just didint know the homebrew launcher didint exist in aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
