Very nice, care to post some of your themes?
I've never made widescreen versions, but I could just add bars to the sides of the 640x480 version before resizing to 640x480. Is there a better way? I'll have to test it to see if my layout coords work in widescreen.

That reminds me to request that:
1) Widescreen mode should just add bars to the 4:3 image if no widescreen image exists, since the default widescreen image only works (layout-wise) for a few themes.
2) Widescreen & 3D covers should resize from the 4:3 covers if no widescreen or full cover exists. A poor 4:3 conversion is better than a "No Image".

I just made these. 1 for wide and 1 original 800 x 480.
I can use some help to get the right positions in the theme.txt
feel free to use this background
Looks nice for the console, can you make matching background for gui mode as well?

Sure, I will make 1. I only need some help with the theme.txt The positions are hard to quess and make them right the first time.
any handy tools to get the positions?

I just updated to the most current version. Don't worry, no complaints, everything ist just working fine as expected.

However I love GUIs and hate console views. I already configured the loader to start coverflow3d automatically. Anyway, when starting the loader, there is still the console screen visible while he searches for the wbfs partition. Additionally, the loader returns to the console view, whenever a game is about to be started.

Two suggestions for that:
- While starting the loader and searching/reading the wbfs partition, show a nice loading screen or (even nicer) some small loading animation.
- When starting a game, don't show the console view and instead use the dvd label cover images to make some loading animation.

Both things are not critical (and should - as always - be configurable), as I love your loader since I first installed it. Would just be some nice addtion to make it more "perfect", so if someone has time to do it...

@Cypherdias

All of that is on the to-do, but there's not enough time to do everything at once

Besides, functionality and stability are on 1st place.

It's HERE. And guys...that's probably the last one I'll release...if you want another BG, or a transparent console, you can realy do it yourself. It's realy not hard, and GIMP won't bite you, belive me

Go to the options menu for a game (or just select the game with A if you have confirm_start=1) and you will see the 4-letter code for the game. The 4th letter will be P for PAL, E for NTSC-U or J for NTSC-J.
QUOTE(oggzee @ Jul 29 2009, 08:01 AM) There isn't. Why do you need that info?
Anyway it's easy to figure that on your own, just look at the 4th letter in the GAME ID:
P = PAL
E = NTSC-US
J = NTSC-Japan
for example: (RHAP) Wii Play
4th letter is P: means PAL
Thank you guys for that info ... much appreciated!

I tend to download games that I cannot get locally so my USB hard drive games library tends to have a mix of PAL, NTSC-U and the odd NTSC-J game ... it is often necesarry to be able to distinguish the region version of a game particularly with some that are problematic to play and require specific fixes ... see SD/USB Loader Compatibility Matrix. In that regard this region information/feature should be documented more clearly in the Configurable USB Loader WIKI/documentation ... or even better, this information made more clearly visible in the GUI ... I don't imagine it would take much to add an entry or line in the header or footer specifying region clearly along with GAME TITLE and GAME ID ie PAL, NTSC-U or NTSC-J ???

Great work on Configurable USB Loader by the way so far ... it is my favourite/main USB loader and I think easily the best out there at the moment! ... Keep up the great work!

Any plans on making a feature that will show you exactly what size the .iso is that you're about to install from disc to usb(another loader does this, so I always have to switch to that loader when I want to dump a disc to usb since I have limited space on my flash drive)?

Thanks.

Does the loader accept any image files besides .png?

If I'm not mistaken you can only animate gif image files unless you start getting in video files like Quicktime .mov or Window .wmv

Everyone ignored that because, as Sacohen9665 said, that's currently not possible with this loader.
smile.gif

And I don't plan to do that in the near future.

@Blue-K

What did you use to make the correct coordinates?

I'm writing a small html page where you can upload a image and klick inside the image to get the coordinates. (unfortunatly only works in IE)

Any image editor will let you do that

paintshop, gimp, heck even MS paint shows the coordinate where your cursor is located!
What did you use to make the backgrounds?

So, a first version is done. It's realy based on the NXE Dashboard, and I think it looks realy like that, with the colors, etc...I also included the .psds, so you can make a custom BG, instead the current red one. Please give also feedback, had some problems on my TV...maybe it's just me, but I could be wrong somewhere...

Now, get it HERE (Filename: XBox NXE).

Again...don't forget the feedback!!!

Btw: Thanks at all that helped me with the Infos

That's fantastic, I'm absolutely happy with that. As I said, it's not that critical/important for me, only something I thought about. And of course...

I agree 100% with that.

Sorry to ask this, if this is obvious... I didn't find an answer to this:

Is it possible to play Sam & Max with this (btw really GREAT) loader? If yes: what do I have to do, to make it happen?

  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
    I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    @Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    @TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

    be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
    It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
    It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
    do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
    trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files :wacko:)
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    @Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
    @The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
