Castle Crashers was a huge hit for Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade, and has remained pretty popular since it was released in 2008.

Well, it looks like the team has found a new castle to crash, and that castle is PC gaming. The Behemoth has announced that Castle Crashers is coming to Steam... in the form of a poem.

A Poem by Dan Paladin:
While BattleBlock has been churning,
there's another wheel turning!
And that wheel is Castle Crashers running on Steam!

It was accomplished by utilizing one of our programming teams!
We always liked this platform so it's kind of a dream!

I'd say a release date but the future's unknown.
If I make a mistake I shall never atone.

If you're in Germany this weekend please say hi to John.
He is at Gamescom.

They post also revealed some of the new version's features (including Steam Achievements and Gamepad support) along with the system requirements.

As long as the crashing is saved for castles only, this PC edition should be worthwhile.

Had this on 360 (had to trade the console), and still have on PS3, with the Pink Knight DLC. ^_^ I hope there's cross platform online, like Portal 2 did. That'd revive the online quite nicely.

I had always intended to get it on the 360 but never got around to it.

But now that it's coming to Steam? Absolutely, I will get it.
I'd be surprised if they brought Alien Hominid over too, we'll see.

@Gahars.... These puns of yours that seem to be creeping into your topics, they here to stay?

I must be living a sheltered life as i haven't heard of this game, but i'll read up on it.

There is a Steam logo on their official site with "coming soon". I hope that "soon" means "as soon as possible" :P

Yeah, we have no definite release date yet. The original post did mention that it would be playable at the next PAX convention; if they have a demo like that already, we probably won't have to wait too long.

The game's alright, it just has some serious flaws. The big one being character recognition. You lose track of your character in co-op. A lot.

And the game is terrible if you're not playing co-op.

Also depth perception can be a little off, you'll shoot an attack that goes straight and miss your enemy completely because he was unknowingly a few planes off or something stupid.

Me and my ex used to play this all the time on xbox, haven't really played it since then. Maybe the Pc version will change that. All things considered it was a fun game.

I remember when this was being developed with all of the progress being posted on Newgrounds with a special game called Castle Crashing The Beard to kind of celebrate Tom Fulp's commitment to not shave his beard until Castle Crashers was completed. The flash game was surprisingly fun, but I never did get a chance to play Castle Crashers. With it coming to Steam, maybe I'll give it a shot one of these days.

I remember getting really pumped for this game when it was first announced, only to hear it was an Xbox360 exclusive.

Some time later I bought a PSN release and was happy as hell, loving every minute of it.

Castle Crashers being released on Steam makes me even happier
