Can someone enlighten me a bit, and explain to me how this is possible?

Specifically this part:

"If you do anything to mess it up you can always fall back on the backup you made before updating and activating. Just reinstall it with cma or qcma and everything will be back to normal with whitelist hack back on the system."

Because, AFAIK, QCMA only back’s up the Games, Music, Videos, Apps…. That kind of content. Not the app.db file itself…
And the APP.DB file itself is a system file, which also, AFAIK, QCMA doesn't access those, so...

CMA/QCMA can do a complete system-backup, which will backup all read/writable data on the system. (no firmware files or system apps), you can restore a backup onto another vita to essentially clone the original.
