I hate this idea, there's just so many things that can go wrong and history shows that they do go wrong. Even it everything goes smoothly and this runs for several years, what about 10 years down the road? Or 20? Will this game still be playable? We already taking a gamble on games like DOOM that require downloading additional content to play on.

So basically, it won't be coming to the switch.

No, I'm not joking: it isn't coming to the switch. If you go to a band camp that has "<insert famous person> is coming there!", then it won't suffice if all you get is a video message of <famous person>.

I understand both why ubisoft and nintendo are doing it, and I can't fault them for it (let's face it: the potential for piracy was going to be thwarted anyway), but really: this is on consumers. I'm against it and will convince everyone I know of why it'll be a bad idea, but I'm not everyone. Others may disagree and make this sort of gaming a success, and as long as it doesn't affect the games I like to play, that's fine too (so it's like borrowing games...so? it's not like that should automatically suck the fun out of a game).

Still...let's be honest here: this isn't an announcement of assassin's creed for the switch. It's an announcement of an AC entry in a 'remote play'-service.

No...that'd be needlessly confusing things. It's better to just call things as they are and not pretend it's something it's not. Here's my correction (with the same bold outline for keeping the context):

You buy playing rights for the game and play it on a remote server. You control a session on this remote server with your switch.

Because it is probably the only place with such a commonplace very high speed internet that no one will have problems using this. Sure those 3 people have gigabits internet connections.

So funny that people really believe game streaming is here already. Internet connectivity is such a fickle thing even in very developed countries.

It is known that Japan has super fast internet but my apartment still uses has 1mbit speed for dl and 0.5 for upload. GG :glare:
Still Im sure that most of European countries have more than sufficient internet connection.

In this case, the statement doesn't apply very well. Even if one's internet is blazing fast, and the service provider has the best hardware in the world, the Switch is still a hindrance with WiFi. Plus, the service provider can only compress the streaming data so much before there is a horrendous loss of sound and video quality.

I said it before the system launched and I'll say it again - the system is too weaksauce to push AAA. Shame. I wonder if the cloud service is exclusive to Japan or if there are some plans to expand it to EUR and NA regions.

Hrm in a way i saw the Switches weakness in terms of power as a way to keep the usual AAA overdone trash away and allow for the more fun stuff and or for game companies and developers to have to make hardware specific games usually ending in a branch of the main series that could be better since its different to the usual cycle. But with this it sorta kills the whole system and forces you to play the game indoors at your house rather then the whole play where ever part of the Switches main selling point. Unless you can buy the game and ftp/stream it from your own laptop and then play it where ever you go. Then that would be an epic way to make up for the power difference of the switch and make it pretty badass.

Absolute waste of money. You dont even own the game. If this game costs full price you pay full price to play a game as long as Ubisoft keeps the servers running. Just get a physical copy for other systems and avoid this stupid stuff.

I’m not all for it, but I have managed to enjoy cloud gaming on my Nvidia shield which was actually really good, not sure if streaming PS4 to Vita counts but it played well, if it’s not ridiculously priced then I’d be interested but if it’s at full price then definitely not

I hate "cloud gaming" for so many reasons
    1) it works until they decide to shut down the servers. A few years from now you won’t be able to play it anymore.
    2) it doesn’t work from where I live (China) and never will anyway
    3) what do you do when your Internet’s down? well you can’t play games as a pass time
    4) so many things can go wrong on an Internet path, and it isn’t like video streaming - you can’t pre buffer much
    5) playing outside of home is almost impossible due to 4G latencies and/or coverage. The reason people buy handhelds is, in part, to be able to play from wherever.

That being said, it isn’t a terrible move from Ubisoft. They don’t need to spend that much money on developing a real Switch game; so even if they don’t sell this it won’t have been a big risk.

Real game streaming will be a thing when quantum entanglement networks exist, until then everything will be rubbish and a waste of time and money.

Quantum entanglement network used in game streaming:
virtually 0 lag, streaming from edge of the universe to the earth, faster than physical connections since information doesn't need to "travel"
(information still need to be processed, so only cpu/gpu lag and our brain lag)

Am I the only one thinking Nintendo suck, they release a portable system and the only way third party devs can support with it's current aaa titles is to remote play off hardware capable to run the title.

But Nintendo never thought about hardware as usual and never occurred to them that it will need some form of internet connection when playing as it's main marketed modes.... portable.

Nintendo has no meaning anymore they don't innovate shit, they recycled old shite 24/7.

    — Posts automatically merged - Please don't double post! —

Ohh and not to mention your paying for something you don't even own and can be pulled at any given time when the dev figures it's cost to run isn't worth the demand it's getting anymore.

Well done again Nintendo release another expensive paper weight.

I've been using a cloud computer for a few months now, and I must say that I'm really surprised. I tried it at home with a 1Gb fiber connection, with shared connection through my phone's 4G connection, and on a public wifi, and no lag at all (tried No man's sky, Deus Ex mankind divided,...). So if they do it properly, which is possible, why not ? But because of the fact that you need internet, it's a no-no for me because it renders the portability of the Switch completely useless

Well, streaming a purchased game to the Switch from a PC version of the game; do I own the Switch version or the PC version? Also, this is extremely lazy to port a game to a console. On top of that, severely limited when it comes potability. Which is a selling point for the switch. On top of that, this is a cloud game; meaning if the game ever gets 'discontinued' that certainly means that you will not be able to play the game anymore on your switch vs a Physical or Digital game.

Please stop ranting, Nintendo is experimenting this technology since their partner is Nvidia, they are testing the platform and the market; the ability to have AAA titles on launch on Switch is good, for sure they should improve servers to handle better graphics, but these are games that are not meant to run on this hardware
