It was much debated on the Internet what SoC Nintendo's Switch is using. Some say it is powered by Nvidia's 2 years old Tegra X1, others say it is powered by a custom Tegra Pascal chip. It seems we finally have an answer as ARM claimed the Switch will be powered by 4x ARM Cortex-57 cores. For reference, the X1 also uses four ARM Cortex-57 cores. While Nvidia's Pascal based Tegra P1 chip utilises four Cortex-57 cores as well, it also has 2 additional Denver2 cores that are lacking in the X1 and ARM's announcement. That means it's very likely that Nintendo went with the X1, although with some sort of possible customization.

Update

Someone asked ARM via email about the facebook post and ARM says it was 'not an official statement' and removed the post. Whether it was posted by mistake or if there is any other reason behind it is anyone's guess. ARM notably didn't deny the truthfullness of the post, but at present the Switch's SoC remains unconfirmed.

I don't think this is relevant to anything in my post. Neither O3DS nor N3DS can come close to touching Switch's performance and efficiency with a ten-foot pole. The only reason the difference seems more noticeable from O3DS to N3DS is because the clock speed of O3DS is so low in the first place. Kinda like the 1.8GHz processor cores in PS4/XB1 are a joke compared to 4GHz cores in proper PC CPUs.

On the contrary, the n3ds was a quad core (compared to the dual core in the o3ds) with a 200%+ clockspeed boost.
The point related to your earlier post is that a jump from A57 to A72 would matter.

The N64 was very powerful for its time, in terms of raw power it slaughtered the Playstation (better CPU, better graphics processor, perspective correction, z-buffer, etc), the only downfall was the 64 MB carts and not CDs. Gamecube also was almost as powerful as the Xbox, but the PS2 won despite being the weakest.

It was only up until recently could they be forced with emulators, PGXP/GTE hacks, etc can force perspective correction in many games, but yeah native PSX looks bad lol

With that said, why do some people have to initiate the dispute? Do you really feel the need to point out every small hole in someones statement? Does it make you feel good inside that you got to point out someones flaw in their logic in such a public way? I'm sure someone will feel the need to argue with what I just wrote. Probably because more people need to make use of the ignore feature. On a site like this, it's a godsend. My ignore list is up to 18 and it makes the place so much more tolerable. On all other forums, I've maybe ignored a total of two people, and I think they both wound up getting banned, anyways.
