I tried a few different psp launcher pkgs and none of them seem to have the option for smoothing, scaling etc.

I'm aware of the psp to pkg method but the compatibility for that program isn't great from what I've seen.

in the debug menu under settings there is a way to enable psp scaling options

I must be missing something. After I launch the psp game I press the home button on the controller and do not see options anywhere.
you need to be on the main xmb to enable it

main XMB>settings tab>scroll all the way down to the debug settings> look for enable psp options and press enable

then goto game settings on towards the top of the settings tab

I went to options, game settings and the only PSP option available was for normal or full screen (which cut off the edges of the game I was testing).

I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar

Or when your player dies, you can say in code, if enemy exists, do nothing, but if enemy does not exist, then create enemy at certain spot. (This would be a pain tho for lots of emeies)

Easiest, simple way would be just restart scene, but player would restart from beginning.
