Bought two of them, neither one works worth a crap. Tried soldering a NYKO battery pack into the cover, with intent of replacing the charger internals with it, but it turned out...messy :(

You are not going to find one.

When it comes to battery anything else besides one manufactured by reputable company is considered junk and potentially dangerous.

My recommendation is eneloop AA battery. These batteries have low self-discharge rate, so you can actually have several charged one stored. Then whenever you need to replace the battery just swap them and charge depleted one later.

Yeah feels like the one negative bout it no rechargable pack......But some good rechargable batteries should be fine for extended sessions

Just recently installed Xeno chip on my OG Platinum system and has been burning some copies to keep my GC gamea minty :)

How do you think attaching the the battery out of something like a ps3 controller to the battery terminals might work?

PS3 battery uses 3.7 V or 5.0 V, depending on model. Both are considerably higher than 3.0 V from 2 x AA battery.

And how are you going to charge piggybacked battery? Most lithium battery are charged using a method called delta-V. By piggybacking battery (assuming they are the same voltage), you increase the capacity. Delta-V becomes harder and harder to measure as charging capacity increases. Each charger are tuned to charge specific capacity.

If a charger cannot measure delta-V correctly, it'll overcharge the battery. With lithium battery, you are looking at exploding battery.

What about rumble? Any way to mod a wavebird with rumble? Other wireless GCN controllers have rumble. Or if they don't they still have the connection point on the circuit board.

Do other wireless GCN controller use their own receivers, or share the same receiver as Wavebird?

If they use their own receivers, then you need to find out if Wavebird's receiver strips rumble data before transmitting.

Like the video Waverboy showed, it seems pretty easy to stick one of those Nyko batteries in a WaveBird. All you would have to do then is to design a new cover in SolidWorks with an opening for the metal contacts and 3D print it.
