this is very slooooow for me, the SD is 64G U1 class (UNS-1), so not too bad
first try it could no finish the setup, it looped through the google login process
after that it booted into android but it's way too slow, I have 5-6 years old tablets (acer iconia A500 and some NEXUS from the same generation ) and are much faster that this
does other have the same speed issue, I was planing to use it for comics reading with comicrack, but this is unusable
It's the SD card. Maybe there'll be some performance improvement with updates, but SD cards are making all the difference. I first flashed android to a 32gig Samsung, also U1, oldish but was a decent card, and I had slow boots, failed boots, stuck setup and random system freezes, just constantly. I finally got around to setting it up on my main 200gig Samsung, A1, not brand new but pretty modern, and it boots fast, setup went fine, and it's generally stable.

You can boot the Hekate payload by chainloading it from the SX boot menu; that way you only need the SX files and the Hekate payload on your SD card, you don't need a PC. Here is a guide by PRAGMA I found, you may want to check this out.

You can also make the SX pro dongle to inject the Hekate payload, but I am not sure how to do that

yup that is what i am wondering
not sure what the micro USB on the dongle if for or it is used for uploading payload files onto the dongle
still not really sure what it is for , charging maybe?
i thought the SX dongle charged by charging its caps from the power it got from the type c
but maybe it only charged from the micro usb or it charges from both ports?
i would like to know if the micro usb on the dongle is just for fat charging it or if it is for uploading payload files to the dongle too

The micro USB is for charging. It does charge over the USB C when connected to the Switch & not in RCM mode, but you can also charge it through the micro USB.
SX dongles have a fixed payload built into them that can't be changed, it loads & runs boot.dat from the SD root. Normally that's SX OS, but you can use the SX Gear boot.dat to chainload a payload.bin of your choice.

I've been told that there's another new Joycon fix, as the previous one made Android think the joycons were an xbox controller. Any truth to this?

Asking because my controls for PokeMMO are qute fucky atm with the original Joycon fix.
If true, any chance of a link please?

Workaround that fixes the problem at my device WARNING - All Data gets wiped (factory reset):::
-Put zips on SD Root (GApps and Shieldifier)
-Boot TWRP
-Wipe data - Dont reboot
-Wipe cache - Dont reboot
-Install zips
-Wipe cache
-Reboot
-Hopefully ENJOY :D

If you have problems updating the shield app::: Downoad most recent apk at apkmirror - put on sd - install with any filemanager you like (enable unknown sources)

Yeah, I noticed it too, I'll be playing blades and the screen will become non responsive for a sec, hopefully this can be fixed, because everything else is awesome.

Ive just been trying Mupen64, it does work reasonably well. However games freeze when selecting opengl video backend option. Is their a current solution to allow opengl on android? Or is this something that is waiting for an update. Any insight would be great tyvm.

Hey I have my extra 5.0.1 switch layin around with atmosphere installed. I was wondering if I want to focus on emulation (16/32 bit main focus but I guess N64/DC would be cool as well) would running android on switch be better than retroarch on horizon?

Thanks in Advance

is there a way to backup your files. i bought a bigger sd but would like to keep my game saves, etc
I think you can transfer files with bluetooth, there are some other options also like wifi, or ftp, hopefully we can get mtp soon. you might be able to make a flash of your sd and flash it to another sd, but I'm not sure, I never tried it before.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

It inserts a newline in a random spot.
