you should really use the one on Plailect's guide if you want to use the DSiware method. it's newer and more updated.

no, the purpose is to downgrade the target system. the source doesn't custom firmware if you do it properly.

if you do what the guide tells you to do, without skipping a single step, you cant lose your hacks.
you will only lose your installed titles and the nnid you used to buy fieldrunners (that nnid will be on your friends 3ds for at least a week before you can transfer it back if you care)

I am getting Fieldrunners now. I got a Nintendo eShop card from Gyft and tried to download it and my 3ds was on low battery so it wouldn't let me download it. It says "To redownload screen" so I get the feeling it thinks I already paid for it XD
