Have reinstalled the app from homebrew-app. If I launch a game I get a cracking audio sound every 3 seconds, which is really annoying. Does someone know how to fix this?
I have changed several settings I could find on google.

This is a native PS4 port of RetroArch. The current release is based off v1.8.8.
You will need a jailbroken PS4 running 5.05 fw to install and use this port.

Ported cores list:

Cores Install Instructions:
Install and run the Cores Installer app to get the cores. (The app can be deleted after installing the cores)
Alternatively you may download them using the Core Updater in RetroArch.

Note:
Cores are now installed to /data/self/retroarch/cores.
If you ran my previous releases, you will need to update the cores directory configuration by going into:
Settings->Directory->Core and point it to /data/self/retroarch/cores

Notes:
1. Games can either be loaded from hdd or usb.
2. The RetroArch system folder is located in /data/retroarch/system. Any necessary bios files need to be placed there.
3. There is a small bug where sometimes games won't load after closing it. If this happens, try re-loading the core and load the game again.
4. Parallel N64 emulator seems to run fastest with rice gfx plugin in. Use mupen64plus for best N64 emulation performance
5. Shaders should be working. Try loading them from usb if you're experiencing issues and don't forget to press apply after loading.
6. Launching games from playlists should now be working in r2.
7. Use Hen version 2.1.1 or later
8. For r3 or higher, install and run the Cores Installer app to get the cores. (The app can be deleted after installing the cores)

Aknowledgments/Thanks
- Flatz for figuring out OpenGL on PS4
- Frangarcj for the initial RetroArch PS4 port
- Big Boss for liborbis

I get the impression that the cores are very outdated, and I find it sad that this project is no longer being updated. Even PSX RetroAchievements don't work because the core files are outdated. Is there anyone here who can rewrite the cores to the new ones? This requires converting the open source core files into SELF files. I tried doing this myself yesterday using a YouTube video about ps4toolchain, but I got stuck in the end of the video when i had to execute setup-toolchain.sh (It said I was missing a few folders or files, like eboot... but those weren't in the installation zip either.)
Is there anyone willing to help me, or anyone with the skills to update the core files so we can bring this emulator back to life?

I'm in the middle of creating a tool that creates single core standalone pkg files using the existing R4 files. Modifies the binaries during the package build to use a new title ID and stuff. Just going through and adding some standard core options for as many as possible to at least have a baseline to avoid crashing.

As for the cores, I have taken a couple shots at compiling from the stuff on github and know exactly how there is always something missing or something. Likely from there being some many different pieces of toolchains kicking around so the mashup of Orbisdev, OO Toolchain, Official SDKs, LibOrbis the PS4SDK, and I am sure to likely missed some more but you likely get the idea, turns messy real fast.

Toss me the converting thing you are mentioning and I will see if I can do anything with it.

Anyway, once I get a first version of this Solo PKG Tool out and stuff, I will likely end up mucking around a bit in the sort of thing. Might try a little different approach for things than what the current Retroarch is and it might not work but will still be fun I imagine.
