Besides, whenver you back up any nand.bin files, you should have saved it onto your PC.

Yeah I had them all saved as a backup as I follow the steps.

if you can't find the target emuNand.bin file (or whatever you named it as), and then put the back up you made back into SD under the /files9/ folder
Then restore it to sysnand.

Following Plailect's guide, on an old 3dsXL at 4.5, is it necessary to do step "Section IV - Restoring the System" if I don't care about keeping anything? Can I just do a System Update from 2.1?

I do have emunand but don't mind losing it. Do I need to do steps 1 and 2 in "Section IV - Restoring the System" or can I skip and go straight to 3? Thanks again.

emunand is for moving emunand page, and since you said you don't care, guess you could skp that.
Yes, you can skip to step 3.
Though, do recommend you do step 2 since you said you were on 4.5?

that what you were upposted to do. do sysnand restore (keep A9LH option), but using the emunand.bin file you had....

my NANDmin.bin fails to restore

and when i try to update the 3ds in system settings, it gets close to the end and fails (its japanese so i dont know what its saying)

so im kind of stuck on 2.1.0-4J, any ideas?

I read the troubleshooting guide, and I did the steps to copy two files to the newdir folder, but the H&S Dump failed on me. I'm lost.

One option is to go back to 9.2 (with a 9.2 CTR transfer) and use FBI from homebrew to install FBI.cia. Then you could update back to 11.2.

I know you probably just want Luma with menuhax, but since this is a clear step-by-step guide, whereas switching to Luma from menuhax would require a lot of searching and troubleshooting, you may find it easier to just get a9lh. Do all the steps from sysNAND. Near the end you can flash your emuNAND to your sysNAND and won't lose any data.

My system transfer is taking a really long time for dsiware hax. Is there any way to speed it up? Can I use the low capacity transfer?

For the homebrew launcher you have to be on 9.0-9.2. So you'll have to do a CTR transfer.
