Quick question: What firmware or software do I have to put on the blue gateway card in ordner to play DS-Hombrew and Backups?

Questions please: If I extracted a save file by the savedatafiler for pokemon ORAS/XY will I be able to edit it with programs like pkhex? ( without needing cardtwo save tool)

and also do I need to install the Savedatafiler application on my 3ds home screen ? is it necessary yes or no ? If necessary, does anyone have a converted 3ds to cia file ready to use ?

and another thing, I have 3 savedatafiler.csu in my downloaded devkit package, how to know which one I should rename to .cia and use ?

ive lost my blue card to my gateway, but i want ninjahax for 3dscraft and for when a gba emulator come into play.

my question is can i use the rom of a retail CN cart loaded on gateway in emunand to install ninjahax homebrew loader in emunand?,

its gunna be january before i can buy a £40 3ds game.

Hello everyone I hope you can help me.

I've been out of the game a bit, I had the old gateway firmware loaded before the omega version came out, so I was only able to play one game at a time and had to do the quit/save trick to get it to save.

Today I went to install the newest omega versions (I tried 2.6, 2.5, and 2.1 even and could not get it to work) and everything goes smoothly until the step to boot into gateway mode. It then gives me a "No Gateway 3DS Cart Found" error.

I followed the tutorial here, figuring at some point the Red Gateway card has to be updated somehow. http://usar4.wordpress.com/2014/04/01/how-to-update-gateway-3ds-card-to-gateway-3ds-v2-1-omega/

So I installed the 2.1 Launcher on the SD card, it installed fine. I loaded some roms on an exfat (also tried fat32) micro sd card and put it into the red card. Tried to load gateway mode and it still can't find the card. I never get the option to update the card.

I've tested the red card numerous times, all tests pass.

This card worked before no problem.

I've used SDFormatter to format the sd cards, as well as windows. Tried both Fat32 and exfat.

Like I mentioned, tried numerous releases, all get the same results. I can install gateway, I can get into the menu and back up my NAND and test the cards. Everything works except booting into gateway mode.

My 3ds is on 4.4u firmware


I just cannot figure what is wrong. Any help would be appreciated

^^Yes, you can use a rom of Cubic Ninja to install and boot Ninjhax.

for example , pokemon updates
using a legit copy of pokemon on modded 3DS , and can't log to eshop

You really should look into using "emuNANDTool_1.0.1" or whatever the latest version is, in between each update, an adept member here made the tool to back up your emunand in between versions so if you would ever need to downgrade your emunand you can.

As far as backing up your sysnand again, if you did it the first time you probably don't need another copy [as your sysnand hasn't changed at all presumably, or else that would be bad D: ].

Anyways, what you want to do is change your launcher.dat file on your sd card [and no do not run emunand install again, you don't need to unless you don't have emunand installed at all]. Go into gateway emunand and make sure you are in the gateway menu and update your emunand through your internet. The new launcher should be able to let you update to the newest.

[If it doesn't, here's what I did, I was updating from 2.3 to 2.5 and I put the 2.5 launcher on and updated--it downloaded the newest update, but I would get a black screen on the end of the install, so I downgraded the launcher to 2.4 and tried installing the downloaded update via that --in emunand of course--, it finished the update and I re-changed the launcher back to 2.5. And everything worked fine. I guess mebbe it needed the older launcher to patch something first--not sure].

2. Use SaveDataFiler to backup save from .3ds
3. Restore save to SD-card
4. Start up OmegaRuby from SD-card and save is the same as on the .3ds

I ask, because this results in an unusable save for me. Any advice on how to fix it?

Then something is weird because I could transfer save data between the 3DS and CIA versions of Pokemon Y perfectly fine.

Even more weirdness. I copy the "main" file to a backup I made of AlphaSapphire, and it loaded with no issues. I even tried installing a different CIA and still having issues.

try bigbluemenu [as .3ds] or there is a .3ds version of devmenu : )

I am currently on 8.1.0-19E. Is there any reason at all to update to latest firmware or should i just stay put? I want to use NINJHAX.

Yeah, it's possible if you're using Gateway, MT-Card or the CFW.

So I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but my SD card recently died on me, and with it my most recent saves of digital Pokemon Y and Animal Crossing.

I have backups of the .sav files on my computer but of course they don't work due to the 3DS only using the most recent save files. I've had the SD card at a recovery place for a month now and they haven't had any success.

I was wondering if there was any way, perhaps using Gateway or some other device, to allow me to use my backup data on my 3DS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance

You can probably extract the data with SaveDataFiler and inject into a new save. Or maybe just wipe the secure data so the games load them as they are.

So I have been doing some research. If I were to buy a 4.5 3DS while still retaining my original 3DS. Could I modify my save on the 4.5 3DS and get it to work on my original 3DS? Perhaps through a system transfer or backup of the NAND?

Well you could do a system transfer from your original 3DS to the 4.5's emunand, modify your save and then transfer back, but remember you have to wait a week between transfers. Also this is a kinda tricky procedure so serach these forums before attempting it.
You'd also need a Gateway for that.

Maybe you could keep a backup of your transfered NAND and keep it in your SD card (the original 3DS won't notice it) after you put it back on the original 3DS. Whenever you wanted to edit a save you'd have to just insert the SD into the 4.5 3DS and load the emunand. It should be able to run the installed games and handle the save files without problems (but I never tried that)

You'll have to run the exploit installer on the blue card again.

Everytime you run a DS game or change any NDS-related setting you'll remove the exploit from your 3DS.
