StreetPass 2: Rise from the Ashes

This is a work in progress

If you were disheartened to hear of the demise of HomePass, then know that there is an alternative now. It is not elegant by any means, but you can share your StreetPass file; that is, every StreetPass you've accumulated but haven't used are stored in a single file. Copy that file and you can keep using the same SPs over and over or use someone else's collection. Instructions, links, and other info are HERE.

To summarize what's in that Google Sheet, your CECD is the file that contains your unused SPs. It is located at `ctrnand/data/ID0/sysdata/00010026/00000000`. I posted some information in my other guide (ctrl-F for "streetpass") and on GBATemp.

The instructions for using a downloaded CECD are pretty simple:

1. Open GodMode9.
1. Copy the desired CECD over your existing one (rename to 00000000 if it isn't already).
1. Immediately select the file and opt to "Calculate CMAC". Fix the file if it asks.
1. Boot up and use the SPs as you desire.

Feel free to add your own info (in keeping with the existing format). Region shouldn't matter, but there's a column in the sheet for including the source console's region anyway. If you're looking for a particular game's SP, just sort by that game and select the CECD files that contain at least one SP.

The more people we get to contribute their files, then the more useful this post will be to everyone. All you have to do to help is upload your CECD and type into the sheet what unused StreetPasses you have and how many transmissions you got. Thanks!

This was also posted over in 3dshacks. If you comment, I check that more regularly.

Me too :/, it was such a great feeling to tag another person in your neighborhood, or go to a relay and watch your plaza fill up. What I was asking in my other comment though, was if there was any update on turning this method into a usable app, or if it was stopped working on

In the gigaleak, 3DS system firmware source code was leaked...correct? If that's the case, why not use it make streetpass files, or piece together a board that can send streetpasses?

I'm really upset Nintendo didn't give us Streetpass on the Switch. It would have been really fun.
Well, the switch does have bluetooth, so a homebrew could most likely make use of it...

For some strange reason, this isn't working for me. I followed the instructions and then when I boot and enter Mii Plaza it says the app isn't configured to use Streetpass. When prompted to use Streetpass I say yes and then I don't have any new SPs. The same happens with other games, for instance if I open Mario Kart it says it will begin using Streetpass, as if it was the first time I opened the game.

Something similar to what happens to Lapin occurs to some of my games, it took me a lot of time to understand what I had to do, but I finally did, I even did "Calculate CMAC" and fixed it, but some games will not take in account the streetpass data.
I see that Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, tomodachi life and the Mii Plaza take the streetpass datas.
HOWEVER, Tomodachi life and Mii Plaza both count on the fact that the second time you meet someone, you give them some new informations (when a tomodachi child sleeps in your camping area/when you tell a mii plaza friend that they're "fantastic"). Since we can't send that information, some elements of the game don't happen and it's sad. With the method we're currently using, there is no workaround unless you have two consoles, I guess, but then why would you need streetpass?
On the other hand Pokemon Rumble World has a green light, but the game doesn't tell me there are visitors and if I click, it says that streetpass is deactivated. If I activate it, it says there are streetpass data for another savefile, so the game erases it and creates the datas for this one. Which reduces the new visitors to nihil.
Pokémon Shuffle has a green light, but doesn't say anything on the streetpass board, and doesn't warn about previous data even if you go to the options to close and reopen streetpass.
Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, tough, doesn't even show a green spot, if the links in the excel file are correct.

I'll observe other games with other streetpass files and I edit this comment with the news.

boot your console with the START pressed (to open in godmode)
select sysnand ctrnand
select data
select the bunch of numbers that correspond to your ID0
(if your sd card was only used for one console and one profile, then there is only one bunch of nombers, if not, search for a tuto to know which one is your ID0)
select sysdata
select 00010026
select 00000000 and copy it with the y button
go back several folders (b button) until you're on the root
select sdcard
paste your 00000000 file anywhere you want using the y button

turn your console off
use the sd card on your pc, save your 00000000 file somewhere on your computer, then I recommand you make a folder for the streetpass datas
then you make a bunch of folders in that folder, so I have a "streetpass data" folder which contains 10 folders named from 1 to 10

download several streetpass data from the excel file, and put them in those folders, one per folder, and make sure they're named 00000000 and have no extension (you might need to rename or unzip)
then you put the sd card back in your console, and you START boot it
select sdcard and go copy one of these downloaded 00000000 files
go back to the root and then
select sysnand ctrnand
select data
select the bunch of numbers that correspond to your ID0
select sysdata
select 00010026
paste here to overwrite your original file, follow the instructions
Immediately select the file and opt to "Calculate CMAC". Fix the file if it asks.
turn your console off and on, and enjoy your streetpass
then turn it off and START on to do it again
I don't mean that your instructions are lame, it's just me who lack common sense and got angry for two days before I finally got it. Now I don't need anymore to look up at the instructions.

oh, one thing I'd like to ask: is there a file with miiplaza data that can make the accomplishment "Met five female Mii characters in a row in one trip to the plaza gate"?

Thanks for the long tutorial, at least it was important to know I did everything correctly. I should point out that I just bought a 3DS for the first time and have zero SP hits. Maybe that's the issue, I don't know. I'll just have to wait until a better method comes along, I guess, until then no Mii Plaza for me.

EDIT: After many tries, I got it to work. I think the problem was that I was copying the files using FTP. Or maybe it was that I didn't have Mii Plaza Premium? I can't tell for sure but I'm guessing copying by FTP corrupted the data so it's better to copy directly to the SD card.

There is a thread on this site entitled: "Streetpass Mii Plaza Puzzle Swap Save Editor" that will allow you to edit your save data and unlock most of the accomplishments. There isn't any way to get this specific accomplishment only, however. You'll just get a bunch. I tinkered with it because I wanted to complete puzzle swap, but the other edit tools are nice. Just make sure you back up your save data before doing this!

well I was just asking if, in all the 000000 files, there was one with five girl miis in a row in the mii plaza. But I think i've been through all the files noted "mii plaza", and I know there are several games's streetpass data in each file so I didn't want to open each and every file, but I hoped someone found one

Hah, thank you very very much for this, I may try this soon and will reply with the outcome if so. StreetPass is such a sick functionality, I agree in the fact that the Switch should have had it but still I personally don't like carrying it arround for its size and its being more prone to break than the DS systems. I wish Nintendo would release some kind of neoDS as their next handheld console, too bad they are failing on everything they have been doing as of late

some years ago I had an idea and I'm sad they never thought of doing that: being able to send your streetpass datas (even possibly for more games than the 3ds normally allows) to another device (either your smartphone, or a new item that would be kind of like the PokéWalker), so you can just go to school/work/attraction park/whatever with that and not fear someone steals or confiscate your beloved console, and you're not under the temptation to play video games when you're supposed to be busy with something else. Then when you're home you can pour the device's information back in your console.
When I heard the Switch didn' have streetpass I thought again about that...

Does anyone have a ACNL file that isn't already on the sheet? 2 of them are duplicates and it would be nice to have more than 2 houses in my HH Showcase.

Would love streetpass data for Inazuma Eleven Go Galaxy. It's required for the achievement which is, stupidly, required to unlock certain players.

Sharing a file for Yo-kai Watch Blasters Red Cat/White Dog ( Works for both versions).

Contains 4 transmissions. You can use, load the game (to the system save StreetPass Data), and use it again to get 4 more transmissions (and again, again, again...)

Dumped for USA version, but seems to work on other versions.

As StreetPass data for this game seems to be exclusive to the save data of the game (it prompts you are using data from another card game), it can be bypassed using my initial save data (attached too).

Quick guide:

1) Import the save game data using Checkpoint.
2) Download and install Moon Rabit Crew Update (required to change username). If you already have it installed you can skip this step.
3) Load the data selecting the WHITE DOG/RED CAT package.
4) When you select to load, it will ask to change your name, change your name, start the game, save the data e quit game.
5) Replace StreetPass data (as usual, I use the GodMode9 script).
6) Load the game and go to the Wayfarer Coliseum.
7) Select to register your team, and a message will appear saying it was used on Moon Rabit Crew before, select ok to import.
8) Now you can use the StreetPass data as you wish without a problem.
9) If you want to play on Moon Rabit Crew, you can import this save data as usual, selecting Moon Rabit Crew package.
